Ok so ive got a 98 cobra and im putting a vortech v1 t trim on it, I have pretty much every bolt on there is, with 3:73 gears n aluminum drive shaft, 44# injectors, engine is stock when it comes to internals, the question is what is a safe amount if boost without blowing the engine or causing damage, thanks guys

I was literally on the same blower, same gears and same cobra but just 42z instead and I was on 10lbz but blew my motor at 155k on the motor, I'd recommend to be on 8lbs on the motor

internals are good upto 450 rwhp so boost will be around 6-8lbs maybe 10lbs but that may be pushing it i'd get it dyno tuned for whatever boost you want it to

Pulley sizes, I'm on a 3.85 pulley on 10lbz but if you are going to boost more you also have to change the crank pulley to produce more boost and to get the belt not to slip you also have to convert to 8 rib, but all depends on your boost

Ok well I plan on doin internals but not for a little while cuz that shit is expensive lol, so to be safe I should just get a pulley for 8lbs

Truthfully a t-trim is prob gonna be destructive on a stock motor. I would use a 3.85 with a stock crank pulley to keep it between 6-7 #'s. Or run a 3.6 with an aftercooler. I ran a 3.33 with my v-1 s trim which doesnt move as much air on an aftercooled setup. Make 11 pounds with it and it blew up shortly lol. Ring lands on the pistons let go. Here is my setup now.

run 6-8lbs, keep the rpms low, have the tuner keep the tune "safe" (dont let him put a lot of timing into it), have them dial you in at around 420rwhp (450 fwhp), STAY UP ON THE OIL LEVEL.

save for new internals and a 03-04 cobra block and then run 15lbs and drive it like you stole it!

id be feeling perfectly safe at about 12 lbs of boost, use a boost timing master, or a msd dial and based on weather keep it safe
