So i bought some svo heads from a friend he didnt tell me i had some issues i should take a look at. i threw them on and roller rockers bolts where stripped.. thier goes one set of head gaskets. i take the heads in to cascar and MIKE tells me yea you have a huge problem with these threads it looks like i need to do at least 9. i told him ok check them all out and i want you to do all 16 for the rockers i know some are done already just double check them. a few days later he calls me back and says yea all your top threads are ok you should be fine ill fix your 9 like i originally told u.. i pick up the heads and i start torqueing everything down so far so good bottom manifold goes on im supper excited after having my car sit for over 2 weeks due to lack of time. i crank the engine to build oil pressure and wham!! after the 3rd crank a roller rocker shoots out and almost hits someone on the head. my first guess and thoughts where plz let that be a wrench that was stuck on the fan or on a rocker that just shot out. and nope it was a bolt that stripped out from the head after i told him to double check all the holes and him saying they were all good. thier goes another set of head gaskets. my first and last time i deal with cascar in sacramento. i thought and heard this was a good shop but thier work shows me other wise. just my 2 cents if your looking to have some work done on some heads. Yeah there's another member on here (Nate) that had a bad experience with them. Hopefully he chimes in. I guess he got some heads all done up by them bigger valves etc. I gues they didn't put the springs on rite or something. So when the motor is all assembled he turns the key and boom. A valve falls and and you know what happens next.

I never had a bad experience with cascar, but this story is not suprising. Ive always has a bad feeling with them, but they never messed anything up of mine. I now go to Parrish nachine at 3805 Madison ave. Mike is a real nice guy and very knowledgeable. I actually have stuff at his shop right now. A little slow on turn around but if its an emergency he will take care of ya.

By the way,id recommend converting those heads to stud mount.Seems like the only good fix to your issue.

Yea when I went in I talked to mike and the manger and they thought it was my springs that had to much pressure that was causing my rocker to rip out but I explained to him why didn't any of the others rip out?? So he told me talk to the owner and me and him talked he suggested for me to bring the studs in and they would mount them our he would refund my $$.... I told him I wasn't to sure which route to go yet but yes I am definitely going to go stud mount on these heads.... [Smile]

Pedestal mount heads suck, you can't make any adjustments to them.

The owner of cascar is a good guy, ford guy too. He does alot of work him self and his hands are always dirty...but he does have other not so good guys there....the manager is his son. i never had a problem. Sounds like he gets to be the whipping child here because some one ran those heads pretty hard to have threads popping that suks. If it was me id take them back and hold him to his word hes a good guy shit happens. I like crackaway in Elk grove too another ford machinist guy old timer too very high quality stuff out of his shop...my last motor went to preal for hone,10/10, rods maged ect.
