Well I took the almost stock(UD pullies) 90 AOD Fox to the track a few weeks ago. Car went 15.4 at 89 mph...lol. This is with the 2.73 rear gear. Well with the stock shifter we all know it goes from 1st to drive. So when the car makes the shift from 2nd to 3rd(shifts early) its way out of the power range. I have a set of 3.55's they will be going in soon. So since I am not going to do the 5 speed swap anytime soon was going to get the B&M shifter to have a little control over when the car is shifted. Has anyone done any back to back type runs with the stock shifter vs the Hammer at the track? Im curious with being able to hold the gear longer each shift how it effected the ET in the car? I was reading about that but would prefer the rachet type shifter.

So with the Hammer in these cars you shift up and back down to first just like with the stock shifter to do the "AOD shuffle"? All the B&M shifters I have had never had a shift pattern like that...but this is my first my Fox Stang.

Crap just did a bit more searching and looks like its the same pattern unless you swap the valvebody. Well that sucks...I guess I will just keep the stock junk until I do a 5 speed swap.
The AOD does have a B&M shift kit in it but the stock valvebody.

that would make the difference, getting the right valve body does help.

Google "aod epoxy mod" for an inexpensive solution to the aod shuffle. You do have to have a little knowledge about automatic transmissions though. If you can do a shift kit you should be able to handle it.

Thanks for the info! At this point I think I am just going to swap in the 3.55's and call it good. When the AOD dies it will get a 5 speed swap.
