Topic: Typical going rate for K-Member install

Well my car currently has the motor pulled out of it and my engine builder is delayed due to an accident..: I'm thinking of going tubular front suspension since I have nothing but time.... This isn't a thread about brands rather prices. What's the typical going rate that shops/ side mechanics will install a tubular K-member, coil overs, caster camber plates?
Since my motor is out should I just tackle it myself? I just don't like dealing with brakes, don't ask why lol...
Would like to hear from those that have done it themselves. Would you do it again? Or pay? If your motor was out already would it be difficult? [ May 15, 2012, 02:34 PM: Message edited by: cali95gt ]

If your motor is out, it does not really get any easier. Your talking removing bolts and bolting up, I think it is very easy.

When it comes to the coil over conversions how is that? I don't mind keeping spring perches and running a standard set up of springs if the work is too difficult lol...
I'll make up my mind next week I think..

As easy as looking at a diagram and throwing it in, worse case you might have to drill out a section on the shocks for the coil over to slip over.

It's pretty simple especially with the motor out. The part to keep any eye on now is squaring the k-member to the chassis, which just requires some plumb bobs and careful measuring.

I personally would ONLY install it myself if the motor was out, otherwise I'd pay someone to do it.

My bro and I threw some f/r mm coilovers and cc plates on my new edge, straight forward. I would just assemble the coilovers first. Mm has great instructions.

Lol you are always wrenching D!! Well I might just buckle down and purchase one next week... If I'm skilled enough to pull my motor apart and out I hope I can tackle this... I'm leaning towards spring perches and no coilovers. That'll make it super simple.... Expect a call from me D if I get stuck hahaha

in your cars present condition, 100 to 150. but if u can use a plub bob, have a flat surface, find your pick up up points, use a tape measure, u can do it your self fairly simple.

Like a few said, make sure you take the time to properly square the K member up to the Chassis with the Plumb Bobs, otherwise it will be off.

I did mines myself an at first i was kind of worried but when i took the old one off then the new one came i had so much confidence an i held the kmember with one hand an put blots in thats how lightweight it is an easy it is.get some messuring tape an some strong washer for the bolts on the outer bolts for the kmember because the little stock bolts probly go through the holes a little.an i wasnt happy with that so i added strong washers for a perfect fit.
