Hi folks, im wondering if you have any recommendations for car shipping companies?
I shipped a car from Houston not too long ago (covered) and it cost me 700 or so...
Wondering what I can expect to pay from Florida to CA
Thanks Luke

Oh it's nothing special
I called around and the best quote I got was $975 uncovered +$200 for covered. Prices have certainly gone up...

Oh I see. I think what we were comparing is external shipping companies (not using Lee's service).

Thanks, that's in the ballpark of the quotes I have been receiving...
Definitely throws a twist into the equations since that's a significant cost!

You don't always want to go with the cheapest service bro. I've heard plenty of horror stories of people's cars being left in yards cover in dirt, grime, even snow.!.!. I'd check the company out before using them. Sometimes you just have to pay... My $0.02

Agreed, but the big misconception is that these companies have their own trucks.
Every company you call is just a sales office and they match up customers with trucks. There is an online data-base that they all use.
So when you call company A vs company B, they may use the same truck or a different truck. You won't even know what company is actually doing the shipping until they arrive.
What distinguishes the companies is the phone support IMHO... some are very reponsive and quick to give updates. Others you can't even get through to.

I paid $2400 to get my Coupe out here from the East Coast earlier this year, I called for weeks and kept getting quotes around for $2000, so $975 is cheap from Florida.

Ian, thanks for the reminder.
Lee, that's an outrageous figure for getting a car shipped...
I've done it twice now (Texas and Chicago) and never paid more then $800.
I sent you info on the $975 quote I got today from Florida...
Between shipping costs, vin verification, taxes, and little nick nacks, I am reconsidering this whole thing...

Give me the pick up and delivery zip codes with year make and model. I'll see what I can do. If I had to guess its going to cost a minimum of $1400 and no more than $2000. I coordinated high end vehicle transports over for 6 years, and heard and seen all sorts of horror stories. Never ship on a open trailer & never use a broker. You definetly get what you pay for.

Best money I ever spent was cars shipped with his company. Fast service car came in an enclosed trailer and it was shipped with all high end cars

I have to agree with that statement. I just had a car shipped by DAS from Iowa, terminal to home, enclosed trailer, top load because the car is a vert. The original quote was 1400. So I told the seller to drop iit off to the DAS Terminal. He told me it was a towing yard with just a fence surrounding in a bad part of town (I'm guessing that DAS has a contract with them). I really didn't care with this arrangement so I called DAS to see what other options there were. They said I could pay an extra 500...a total of 1900 to have it delivered door to door direct. I was happy to pay the extra but that's just me. I just didn't want my future toy to be in the yard exposed to the elements and thieves It could have been left in the yard for weeks until the transporter show up.
