So to make a long story short, I bought a phone about 3 weeks ago and it started tweaking out. The phone's mic didn't work and it shut off on me several times unexpectedly. Being that I din't even have 30 days with it I go in an attempt to exchange for a new phone or something. When I get there it takes a while to get service but then one of the salespeople come and ask me what I needed. I tell them my problem, and they look at the phone and they tell me "Sorry, we can't do anything to help you, if the phone has ANY physical damage, the warranty is automatically voided". I was like "WTF? You're seriously talking about that scratch on the screen? It's not like I dropped it or anything or I don't give a fuck about the looks I just want a working phone". So the lady goes to get her manager because she was clearly incompetent in helping me with the best solution.

The manager gets there and explains to me very calmly that he cannot return my phone because it has physical damage and that the warranty was automatically voided when I scratched it. At this point I'm pretty angry. I tell him "Are you serious? This is bullshit, the phone is in my pocket with other little items, it was bound to get scratched and that really doesn't matter to me because like I told your rep I want a working phone, the phone doesn't work because of the companies fault not mine" Then he responds irritated "Well, it's as if you're trying to return a car after a crash because the engine doesn't work" and I quickly replied, "No, it's as if you are trying to return a car that came with 30day warranty and the engine doesn't work, the electric system is all mesed up and you won't return it because it got a scratch on the rear bumper". He stays quiet for a while and says he is going to see what he can do for me. He comes out and tells me that since the phone was bought within the 30 days I can put insurance and file a claim and pay a 50 deductible. After some arguing he agrees to credit my account with those 50 dopllars for the deductible.

So the insurance part is even worse. AT&T doesn't offer their own insurance but they do it with a third party so I am calling these people and I swear right when I am in the middle of finishing the claim the call drops and it says there was an error. I keep calling and calliong and they just do the same thing over and over again. I finally give up and do it online thinking to myself "Now they better not come up with this bullshit, this has to work". So the webpage presents 5 steps you need to go through to succesfully file your claim, so I fill out the first step and click enter. This little screen pops up saying that the next page is loading and it literally stayed like that all night. The next morning I check same thing, still loading I close the browser, reopen the page for the claim and fill out the first part again. It does the same thing this time for like 2 hours then I just gave up. I am so fuckin pissed right now because I feel like they're just fucking with me.

Anyone have suggestions or gone through similar shit with att?

You didn't make a long story short

I'm going through a hell of a hassle with Verizon right now - got a replacement phone on warranty and have yet to receive the box/shipping label to return the old/broken phone - so I've been charged $500. I've now called and spoken w/ reps three separate times regarding the damned shipping label, as well as having gone into a retail store a couple of times now, only to be told, "No sorry, you've gotta ship it back and we can't do that for you."

My Sprint phone stopped charging after a year of owning it. I went to the Sprint store and they couldn't fix it. They said that it would take 4 days for a new phone. So they ended up giving me a brand new phone no charge. I didn't even have to ask

Watch your mouth. AT&T is the best. Lol. Maybe they just like me cause my family has been with them since they were pacbell wireless? Either way, where you messed up was;

A. Buying any phone other than an iPhone.
B. You SHOULD have gotten insurance off tops when you first bought your shitty non-iPhone.
And C. Make sure you go to an actual AT&T store, not a crappy authorized dealer.
Oh and D. Keep your phone in a seperate pocket from all the other things you keep pocketed. Very simple.

my old sprint phone (lotus lg) broke a few days after i had my planned canceled n giving it was like 3 days before my plan got shut off. it decide to not turn on an when charging it got really hot. so i took it to the sprint store in s.l. and had no insurance but was like wth might as well try to see if they could fix it. went in told em my problem they charged it to see if it would turn on and see if i wasnt lying about it getting hot i guess, and they gave me a free replacement [Whoo Whooooo!] then i had it flashed to metro [dance]

A. I've had first-gen Iphone, 3G, 3Gs and now I have a Iphone 4 which I bought to use while the other phone was replaced by the insurance. Got pics if you don't believe me buddy, can also throw a middle finger in the pic if you'd like.

B. I bought insurance regardless, it would've been the same whether I got it after the fact or before.

C. I went to an actual AT&T store, the one in Palo Alto, the shitty sales person who helped me was named Alexandra and the managar I really don't remember.

D. Scratches don't bother me really, which is why I could care less where my phone is. But to avoid some bullshit next time, I actually did buy an iPhone case.

If I've ever had an issue with T-mobile phones they either exchange it or sent me a new one. This isn't an insurance policy either, although I have it too, they take care of any phone issue quick and for free. I usually warranty my phone once every few months just for the hell of it.

know bro, that's why I was so pissed. I remember back in the day I had Metro PCS and had their insurance and I swear some phones would get messed up but after taking a beating and they would always still exhange for a refurbished one and all. I mean I love AT&T but their service sucked.

Best u could do is try to go to a real at&t and let them know the situation and don't leave the store until they try to fix the problem themselves. This is why I went from at&t to Sprint and could not be any happier. Also since its under 30 days try to cancel your contract.

Well tell them I try calling the insurance company and nothing work and u also tried to file a claim online and nothing, so have them try it themsleves aswell. And really don't leave until u walk out with a new phone or cancel contract. Also try a different store

If it's an I phone and after the 30 days go to apple they will replace it on the spot you have a 1 yr manufacture warranty that they will honor

Interesting..... I've been with AT&T since they were Pacbell wireless and never had any problems with warranty exchanges. As a matter of fact I've been loyal because they've always resolved my issues quite easily. Maybe try another store??? Good luck! As someone mentioned earlier, if it's an iPhone, the Apple store will do a warranty exchange as long as it's within the first year.

yeah fuck AT&T!! nothing but problems! went back to sprint about a year ago. I craked the camera lens on my evo and my speaker was blown out. dropped it off came back an hour later and it was fixed for free since it was still under manufacture warranty still!
