The lx notch is probably the most famous mustang for some of us who love the foxbody and probably falls in line if you listed the great looking mustangs....mach1's 03/04 cobras 429 boss 79 pace car gt500 kr the list goes on and on. BUT PLEASE stop thinking every "all original coupe" is your way out of debt. if its a chp it has high mileage and its been dogged out most likely...but oh no let the seller tell you "but its all original with buck tags" and heres the kicker "NO MODIFICATIONS" dude thats the sole reason the aftermarket is huge on these things. they need it. they arent worth shit without it. there are plenty of us who know full exhaust intake gears and decent interior barely get you 4500. some of you guys who know this need to call some of these c list adds and let them know. i just called a guy with a red coupe on chrome cobras and he wants 3300 for a 4 banger!!!! are you kidding me? and then theres another with 175k miles all stock chp for 5600!!! WTF? its not faster it the exact same car as a regular coupe.. Im sorry but i had to get this off my chest and ill be the first to admit the coupe is my favorite but the prices are getting ridiculous and this all original shit is killing me. Dont mean no respect

I, personally, would pay more for an unmodded, unmolested notchback than one that's modded. These cars are known by EVERYONE to be the ultimate sideshow car. That being said, 9 out of 10 of them have been dogged to shit...UNLESS you get it in original condition from an older guy who you know for damn sure didnt dog it. Thats my 2 cents on this topic...
I've owned a very clean coupe and they can definitely fetch a pretty penny when in the right condition. Mine got me $8k a few years ago

You're definitely not wrong for thinking thats too much money. I, myself, probably would never pay that kind of money for a "street car" fox nowadays either. Foxbodies really are a dime a dozen, and they sell basically for "whatever someone else is willing to pay for it." There's really not a set value on these cars because their conditions vary so largely. I'd personally stay away from buying one from the bay area though (unless you know and trust the seller). I can guarantee that 99% of the ones on CL are beat to shit and abused

Foxbody cars have always sold for more than they're worth. Never really understood why. I got my 85 on eBay for 1900 and best I could tell by condition and the stack of paperwork (guy I got it from bought it through a lien sale) that came with it, it had under 55k on it. Don't get me wrong it was by no means perfect. IMO it was a $2000 car. I've never been the type to pay more than something is worth just to be cool and I think that definitely is part of the problem. At the end of the day I guess the value is based on what people will pay and not so much what they're worth.

cars are worth what people are willing to pay, there's no other scale.
KBB is not an accurate source to judge a sought after car like an lx coupe.

Coupe's are overated IMO. If I had money to throw away Id buy one again though. But only if I had money to throw away. Car's in general suck, all you do is throw tons of money into it and it's never enough, there's always another set of rims, or a hood, or some kinda part. But then again I guess that's the fun of it all?

I agree, that's why you can barely get kbb value out of a camaro.
I've also never liked coupes and would probably never own one but that's obviously just a personal preference. To me they just look funky from the side.

totally agree coupes are wayyy over priced, i dont see how a notchbacks the ultimate sideshow car when they are exactly the same as a hatchback, the only difference between them is like 200lbs.
and racsirx your coupe is the teal one with the turbo gt40 set up? i saw the add and its a clean ass car but imo its wayyy overpriced.
but like said above the car world is all about what the buyer is willing to pay and if i could sell my car for 7k just cuz then i would do it too, but there is no way in hell i would pay more money for a 5.0 mustang just becuase its a coupe [ June 27, 2011, 06:49 PM: Message edited by: 915.0gt ]

Lee will get whatever he wants for that car, try to replicate it and then compare. As much as I'd like to think that the dude in the ford sale section didnt trade his cobra for 175k stock coupe. The fact that he's even thinking about doing it makes me not even for one minute think that coupes are worth a pretty penny to the right person.
