im a not a sprinkler fitter but i am a pipefitter .im in local 38 plumbers and pipefitters in SF. i can tell you that union pipe trades of any kind is a good solid honest career.i went through a 5 yr apprenteship and been doing this for 15 yrs now. money pays good [ May 27, 2011, 10:49 PM: Message edited by: nasty93 ]

I'm also a local 38 plumber but used to be in local 483 sprinkler fitter member I would suggest you goto laney collage and take the basic math class wich is free and that should get you through the math part all the other stuff I'd basic common sence crap... Goodluck trades are great careers if your a hands on kind of person

been in the sprinkler business for 6 yearz now. not in a union though. company left the union a while back . alot of stuff to go through. in the process of learning more about the underground to the riser systems [ May 27, 2011, 11:58 PM: Message edited by: Sic Beast ]

What would be the best way to get in the union? Been looking into this but dunno what's the best way to approach this...or what to look into. Sorry not trying to thread jack just interested in similar careers in a way

Best way is to get grandfathered in meaning you know someone in the trade you want to get into and they know someone way up there and work out a deal to get you in but realistically just choosing a trade you would enjoy learning and doing, taking the enrollment test with a high grade will usually do it
