Seen this on another site saying you need the jlt oil separator on the new 5.0 they didn't explain really in detail why but said if your going to do some track time you will need this and have to empty a catch can , and the separator should be installed on the passenger side. But I know there motor is pressurized but shouldn't ford address this

I'm not sure exactly why the new 5.0 specifically would need this, but usually the air oil separator is used to keep oil from recirculating into your intake. I see them mostly on boosted cars because the oil film reduces the efficiency of the intercooler.
Edit: And ford has addressed this by running the pcv tube back into the intake to be burned in the engine. On a normal daily driver this isn't an issue. [ April 08, 2011, 06:06 PM: Message edited by: 89foxstang ]

Blowby gasses in the crankcase along with some oil mist is fed back into the intake through the PCV valve. The oil will burn but it's not gasoline so it doesn't add power. Some people are concerned about that small amount of oil so they install an oil separator.
It certainly doesn't hurt and can be a small benefit though it requires you to constantly check and empty the catch can.
All US cars have shipped with a PCV setup for the last 47 years and it's not been a problem but some people are special and think they need a separator. [ April 09, 2011, 08:41 PM: Message edited by: SteveL ]
