So, today my new laser sight arrived, it is made by Lasermax and is a guide rod laser...I am putting it in my Sig 229
Here is where I fucked up Part of installing the laser calls for removing the take down lever and replacing it with a new one. When I removed the take down lever, I was not paying as close attention as I should have been and also removed the locking insert and the slide catch lever.
I have tried for a few hours now trying to get the locking insert and slide catch lever to fit how they are suppose to, but the slide catch lever and trigger keep getting in the way... I know there is a trick to put it all back together, but of course my owner's manual says not to disassemble the gun past a field strip.
Anyone own a Sig or disassembled a gun past a field strip and know any tips or tricks? If I cannot figure it out I will take it to my gunsmith, but I would love to figure it out on my own.
I'll take some pictures in a few and show what I am talking about...
-Thanks

Headed there next, but had to ask the CaFords family first.. I know there are few guys like Wildfire and slidewayz94 on here that might have a clue.

Save yourself from a headhache and any mistakes, take it to the range at work they will do it for free. I haven't taken down any of my Sig's beyond a field strip.

Hes just never taken that part apart. Its not a big deal as long as he gets it back together the right way.

Yeah, I got it back together a few days ago. It actually wasn't that hard to do, just didn't know how to at the time. I don't know if I am a big fan of the laser sight. It seems like more of a novelty to me, but my dad wanted it.
Went shooting this morning out at Spenceville... some weird people out there, but it was fun. I finally acquired enough .380 rounds to shoot my pocket Sig 238.

I've acquired a lot of 380 ammo during the peak of the ammo shortage. Still haven't broke in my newest Sig 238 (this being the 3rd I've owned).
I hate Spenceville because of the idiots. Drive to Sac Valley Shooting Center it's worth it.

I use crimson trace laser grips much better fitment quality etc. and definately not a novelty item my .45 with Crimson Trace is all I need.

Did you send yours back for the recall?
Personally, I liked it better before the recall... I was able to carry it cocked and safety on. Now, I have to carry it uncocked and safety on or cocked and locked.... I go with it uncocked and safety on; the last thing I want to do it shoot myself in the leg. However, the downside is in order to make it ready to fire I have to pull it, turn the safety off and remember to cock it... Just something I have to get use to with practice.
For awhile I was thinking about selling it because ammo was so hard to find and the significant resale value, but after finally getting a few hundred rounds though it I love it. IMO, it is the best looking of the pocket pistols and shoots surprisingly well.

I was actually going to buy the Crimson Trace laser grip because of the quality, but that would have meant changing out the walnut grips on the 229 and I didn't want to do that. The lasermax sight is cool and easy to see at night, but in the sun...forget about it. It also pulsates and I am not a fan of that, but I believe it is just a setting that I need to adjust.
