There was a member on here that used to offer services to powdercoat wheels. im currently working on a new project, pls send me a pm.

Ive gotten my wheels sprayed @ a body shop before, and the road debris eventually chips @ the paint, does powder coating offer better protection?

any Before and After pics, will help! and even the After After pics.. THANKS Cafords. [patriot]

I did not go with powder coating even though it is supposed to be better protected only because the quoted I got to powder coat my wheels were between 500-800 bucks. I instead got a 2 stage paint done at a paint and body shop for only 35 bucks per tire. I have had no chips or any problems with the paint job done. I just drove to the Knotts event and back and don't have one ding, chip or scratch on them. Here are some before and after pics:

Only problem with painting and not powder coating is when you change your tires and put the rim on the machine it will take the paint off so that's why I left a silver lip on mine so it wont mess up the paint.

Hope this bit of info helps!

My experience is paint never holds up. Powder coating is a lot strong if done right.

Ill post pics of my items when I go pick em up. I love how my intake and valve covers came out.

It was 35 per rim and that included paint and labor everything needed. It was 140 out the door for all four tires. I have had them like this for almost a month and like i said drove to Knotts and back plus daily driving I have about 2000+ miles on these rims and don't have a single scratch chip or anything. I have driven the car on gravel roads in the rain everything and haven't had any problems. it didn't just save me a hundred bucks it saved me a few hundred bucks. I can paint these rims 4x's over if they scratch and be cheaper then the quotes i got for powder coating. I mean i am all for quality I would rather spend the extra money for quality but this was a great price for a quality job. And 2000 miles later i havent had any trouble

venomous99, thanks man.. ill give him a call, and shop around.

cobrachick, thanks for that too. i actually have my 22's on the jeep 2 staged, and they were looking really good, until this year's rainy season. they lasted about 2yrs. now i have random chips on the insides, not that noticable, just not perfect nomore. hopefully you will have better luck! with your rims being a bit smaller, and not as wide open of a spoke lady luck is on your side...

NCALSVT, ill be giving you a call real soon bro. what part of san leandro you from? went to school out there? i knew an ivan with a SVO in high school. lmao. ¯
