quote: NEWARK (KRON)-- Newark police say that an off-duty federal officer has been shot following a confrontation outside of a residential building Tuesday morning.
Newark police say the officer was shot just before 6 a.m. in front of his residence in the area of Bettencourt Street and Mayhews Landing Road. Police say he was taken to the hospital for treatement. The extent of the officer's injuries are unknown.
According to police, the suspect or suspects fled shortly after the shooting.
Stay tuned to KRON 4 and KRON.com for updates on this developing story.
This story sucks, not only because an officer was shot, but because now his residence is put on blast...

the cop was a homeland security officer from what the news is saying...where i live, i always see a dude either getting off or going to work with his uniform on, patches all out there...not a wise move. i really hope he catches wind of this incident and asks himself, "what if"

he works at the airport, I bet he's never even arrested anyone, probly just polices the behind the scene areas of the airport, what did he have to worry about? probly just wrong place wrong time, bet the shooter had no idea he was a cop.

dude is done.....my stepdad has worked for an "Agency" for over 25+yrs and I'll tell you, you try to rob or do anything dumb with that guy and it will be a plain and simple double tap execution (he might be the second Rambo lol)....different set of rules from local PD/SD for sure! Shitty situation though....no one is safe!
