Passed sniffer and visual. Failed engine light test. Think it has to do with the dead battery I replaced yesterday. Computer probably did reset for self diagnostic test since it had not been driven except to smog. Needs more miles. Mods are everything. Stage 4 port a/2.76. Put the stock tune in as well as stock air box and stock H pipe.

yup, most smog techs will automatically fail you if the battery has been disconnected.
I needed about 300 miles for the computer to accumulate all required data on my 96.
Of course the techs won't tell you that until after you fail... so they get paid.

No, when I replaced the battery it reset the computer. Car needed drive time to perform self diagnostic test. Apparently when you smog your car there is some test they perform to check this (does the car perform self diagnostic test). My engine light was not on when I changed the battery. Just wiped out the computer and needed the miles to perform its test. No biggie, I'll drive it to work and retest Thursday. It's only $8 for the retest.
Everything else was good even with the ported blower and pully. Just a a small set back.

you can check that yourself if you have a code reader, P1000 will come up if the self test hasn't completed it's cycles yet.

YEP, it's called a drive cycle. I had that problem and they wouldn't tell me about it. had to find out on my own. they make the code readers now with a light to tell you that the emmision sensors are reset so you can know that youre good for the test. I got one if you need it.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Man I hate some smog tech's and some automotive repair people. Always trying to milk someone for every penny.
I figure if your honest, people will recommend you and your business can only benefit. Oh well.
Good luck on your next test.

there is no way a smog tech can fail u for incomplete monitors, the machine itself fails u so learn about what u type about

I've never seen any vehicle take more than 30 miles to go through the process. We see MANY vehicles due for smog but have the CE light on. After the CE light is repaired we often need to drive the vehicles for the customers before we can have them smogged. 30 miles and you should be A'ok.

don't clear or you are resetting the drive cycle monitors.
if the code is there just exit out and don't clear.

Ha, should of had my code reader. Even if is not reset, the code reader tells you if it's ready or not. Where you live? Maybe you can pass thru. Check it out man. I won't charge you!!!! or you can check the code, but don't clear it.

fords are one of the hardest cars to set the drive cycles , monitors. it also depends on the driving conditions, 65mph for 15mins steady then decellerate all that shit. so u have to change up the drive style.
