when ever i type in cubic inches or say 302 for instance.it shows how many liters it is.but 302 doesnt say 5.0 liters its like 4.9xxxxxxx but 306 was the 1st to show up as 5.0xxxxxx.is a 5.0 really a 5.0 or is it 4.9 and some change?just doing a little searching on cubic inches and liters and what not..thanks guys ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

FORD rounded it up, just like our mod motors are technically a 280 not a 281. 5.0 motors are really 4.9xxx.

thats false advertising i want my money back ASAP.lol i thought i was paying for a 281.lol.naw just playing.so with companys making stroker kits and whatnot does that correct the displacement and liters?

im pretty sure its the same with the 429 or 427, one of their bigger engines, was really about a 42

all engines are like that. 350's are not really 350's they are 346....

One of my honda buddies would give me shit on that when I had my first fox
But I believe I heard it was done because it was easier to market and more catchy to say 5.0 than 4.9. Also I think it was cheaper for ford to produce the 5.0 badging & such. Not sure why but that's what I remember hearing.

I think Ford already had a 4.9 liter strait 6, plus 5.0 just sounds better.

yeah fords 4.9 inline 300 is a great motor. torque monster,good power,but shitty mpg because its a huge I6

Chevy never said a LS1 is a 350, they called it a 5.7 liter
a 350 was also called a 5.7 liter, but they are not the same
