A 97 Cobra engine block can handle over a 1000HP when equipped with billet steel connecting rods and custom forged pistons

The 96-98 blocks were made by ferrari or something like that in Italy I remember hearing. There very strong and light weight but double check what I've said and do your own research. It's the internals besides the forged crank which are weak.

Don't think Ferrari made any Cobra motors. Hahaha

96-98 Blocks are all Teskid blocks and some 99's have dose blocks they have the Teskid writing on the block itself. The crank is good for 1000+hp and yup wid some billet rods and some top of the line pistons u can throw a lot of boost at dose shortblocks. But on a stock teskid shortblock with stock internals i wuld get a good tune and wuldn't push it over 500rwhp unles u upgrade the internals.

I went to next gen yesterday... I asked a bunch of questions. Basically what will 10k get me. It is/was depressing. I think I'm going to dump this car and look for something else.

I wish.. My goal was approx. 500-600 hp( money allows)
realistically.. motor out cleaned up, New pistons etc.. same crank. Suspension, rear end, pro charger(I don't like spray)wheels,tires...it goes on forever.
Not including exhaust, and transmission.
I'm better off to find a car that has been modded already. this hobby is way too expensive!

You gotta pay to play. Save yourself a ton of money and do most of the work yourself.

If you are going to do a foxbody to handle 500-600rwhp you are going to need a new block or you will split it in half. Keep this in mind as good blocks for Fox's are not cheap.

During these rough economic times... I just don't think I can build up my cobra..
If you break it down piece by piece.. It is a shit load of money. My car right now as we speak is 100% stock. With 100k miles. So it will need everything. Too much money right now. If I started to fix it up. It would probably take me at least 3 yrs. I don't have the patience for that.
500 dollar coupe... and nitrous?

maybe I am starting with the wrong car? Maybe a steel 2v gt is the way to go?
I think the push rod motor in a light weight coupe is the way to go. I'm tired of modular motors. [ December 18, 2008, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: svt97 ]

And the matter of actually paying the bill. I don't actually have any credit cards. But my score is at 726. So I'd have to apply for a bunch of cards and then jack them all up!
I do appreciate your guys input. I am trying to find the most logical way to have some fun with my cars.
