I tend to agree, I was just reading this article http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3168817
I caught a few of his fights over the holidays on ESPN classic. And it just reminded me of how blazing fast and powerful the dude was. When he fought Jessie Ferguson, he was ripping at homie's body. It was borderline gruesome. Man how I wish he could have kept his mental state in check. Easily could have been the greatest to get in the ring. Now he is but a controversial topic. I still think he deserves the Hall.

During his prime I'd have to say he was the baddest/meanest man in the ring, ever.
Evander ripped his career to shreds.

Sad as it sounds, I think Robin Givens did long before anyone with gloves did it.

tyson was the shit in his prime. evander, lenox all stayed away from tyson when he was at the top. they only fought tyson after prison drained him of everything.

Yea man, after watching the fights again. You can even tell his whole demeanor was diff after prison and all the troubles. The pre-champ and even pre-prison Tyson was a premiere athlete. Its a crying shame. I guess thats an example of what happens when you remove a mans will from him. He just didnt want to fight anymore.

I caught that fight against Jessie and that birrage of body blows was cringing.
"among the hardest hitters" is a slap to Tyson's face imho, lol.
His left hook alone would probably rank right up there with the anyone's hardest right hand in professional boxing history, lol.

Yeah Robin tore His ass up & His mentor/coach dying did'nt help, or the fact that He got wrapped up with Don King . I remember paying the money for pay per view and getting pissed because the fight's were so short .

Tyson's been weird in the head since he was a kid. I heard he gave the garbage man a crazy right hook to the chin knocking him out for something stupid at the age of 13.

Tyson was the most ferocious fighter we've ever seen during his prime. He's always been fucked in the head, since he was a child.
Mo money, mo problems..............

lol...never heard the garbageman story. Yea man, fighting was his calling. And his issues translated to vicious upper cuts in the beginning. But towards the end translated into strange rambling and drug addiction. Shame. Still one of my favorite athletes of all time. And deserves the Hall nod IMO.

i never really seen a lot of the older guys fight, just a few random espn classic, ali , fraizer foreman fights and a few marciano and liston fights so i cant really compare them myself... BUt man, i was never really a tyson fan, but mike at his prime just looked like a pure monster imo... [ December 27, 2007, 08:44 PM: Message edited by: mr mach ef ]

I was surprised when they rated him higher the foreman or liston. Foremans punches took 2 months to get there but when they arrived, someone was going to sleep. I think the funniest knockout was when he KO'd Tubbs. He didnt even know he was knocked out until like 10 secs after the punch.
