Well the 4 banger coupe passed smog and will get tagged up this friday (along with renewing my license) so it can sit outside worry free while i begin tearing down my running 5.0/speed donar car. Both cars are the same year so it should be a straight forward swap...

-Motor/Trans/ECM and all nescessary wiring/etc.
-Fuel and Brake Lines
-Front Control Arms and Brakes (V8 vs. 4cyl)
-Already Have a 5-Lug Rearend w/ Fresh TracLock (Thanks Taron)

Anyone who's ever done this please chime in and lemme know any helpful techniques or pointers i'll need to know. I know the trans tunnel opening for the shifter will need to be en-larged because the 4cyl is an automatic.

leave the struts attached tot he spindles, attached to the front control arms if you're going to swap everything, and just bolt in the whole thing on each side as 1 unit.

do the wiring, rear brake line, and fuel lines before you drop in the motor and trans

use 3/8" or 1/2" sheet metal screws to replace the pop rivits that you'll need to drill out to swap the rear brake line and the fuel lines.

Woody,
Just transfer the whole kmember trans and motor with the complete front suspension all at once. You just need to unbolt the 4 kmember bolts on each side the upper strut mount tranny mount, unbolt the driveshaft from the rear end speedometer cable, steering shaft, brake lines and any associated wiring. Lift the body off with a lift or several buddies and roll it back. Make sure the jack stands are under the a arms to prevent the springs from coming out. Can be done in several hours.

thanks john paul

that sounds like the most efficient way to do it.. i'm gonna have to get under there and do a real nice visual and see if the space in my garage can allow me to do it this way.

thanks for the input.. i guess thats how the o.g. pittsburg mustangers do it huh [patriot]
