I have 6 sony vaio laptops that I want to post on either e-bay or craigslist but have no idea what to price them at. They wont power on, I think it has to do with the adapter plugs. If you know about laptops lemme know. Model numbers are PCG-505TS, PCG-505FX and PCG-505LS or something like that.

Don't know if I should sell them seperate, sell them as a whole package, sell parts of them like the screens, keyboards, memory, hard drives etc.

N8 what do you think? Anyone other computer heads chime in.

hhmmm, they wont power on? That to me says hardware failure. In that case it may be better to sell to a power user or computer store. Someone who may know how to dissect those things. judging from the model numbers I am going to assume that those are around 3-500 mhz laps. And seeing as how you can get brand new 1.6 laps for around 6-7 sometimes 5. I wouldnt think those would fetch a good price. It may be worth a ebay trip for those. Back around those times, Sony had real bad issues with their power supplies and batteries and sometimes the MB. I actually moved my whole shop away from Sony laptops because of it. The batteries may be worth something. i would sell those separately if possible. Also looks like you have some external peripherals as well.

Anyway sorry for the long-wind, if I lived a bit closer I would take a look at them for you and see if I could get them to power on. but good luck. I would say ebay and cl. [patriot]

Oh just to add, may be worth investing in a new battery and a targus universal plug jjust to be sure. If it is just a bad plug or power cell, then you may be able to sell for more since it isnt hardware failure.

I have another one that is a PCG-5211. I got that one powered up and installed windows xp and with a little fine tuning got it to work in the garage via wireless. It's pretty impressive speedwise but I have no other programs on it. Just for online use in the garage.

I don't know if ANY of the batteries are good. I think I'll post the whole lot on ebay for a penny and see what happends.

Yea targus plug. It as a bunch of adarter tips for multiple kinds of plugs. Just in case your laptops dont share the same connector. you can test all of them with one adapter you know works.

There are ac adapters on for sale on ebay for these laptops on ebay if you want to test your luck to see if its just the ac adapters. But in working condition these might fetch 100-200 bucks. Computer hardware moves way to fast. A 1k computer processor 2 years ago can be had for about 200 bucks now.

The hardware is not worth much on the laptop but they could make for a good parts sale if you have the right buyers. The lcds are worth the most on those laptops and you would be surprised how much a person would pay for small things like the the touch pads or keyboards if they can't find them anywhere else.

The thing is most peripherals and accessories are proprietary. This is where apple shines. One adapter is interchangeable with another apple, so it'll be easy to comeby. But a sony adapter especially one that old will be difficult to find since even the 4 laptops the op listed according to sony use different ac adapters which may mean that they operate on different voltages.

Also these vaio laptops are about 8+ years old compared to the G4 which is about 2 years old. I hope the OP can find what he needs but finding accessories in retail stores for these vaios is seriously just as hard as finding speedline magansium rims.
