Really considering getting this car and I want to see if this is a good stang and also your input. I know its no v8 like my last stang but I can settle for this.
We have been emailing each other back and forth and he gave me a little more info.
“As far as problems, nothing really major other than it just needs a new heater core and since i only really drove it in the summer i haven't gotten around to replacing it so its bypassed for now. The A/C used to work and I even purchased a brand new compressor for it when I lived in Phoenix from a guy who had a few, which by the way is a Techumse HR980 and discontinued since the early 90s. A/C worked great even when I moved back however it developed a leak in one line so i left it off... so no A/C however you can fix it easily I just never really got around to it. The powet steering pump has a small leak its had forever and i've also never really gotten around to replace it. Other than that it pretty much is ok. I've updgraded many many things in the engine including new turbo, injectors, ECM, fuel pump, radiator, fans, headlamps, CD player, intercooler with a HKS blowoff valve, Eibach Sportline lowring springs, boost controller, later e6 exhaust manifold, Flowmaster 2 chamber muffler. Found both original Marchal foglamps instead of some cheapies it had when i bought it, new stock clutch (wich in my opinion prefer a racing clutch but this ones very easy on the pedal), all synthetic fluids in tranny and rear end, slotted brake rotors, MSD coil.... and many other things i've forgotten about. I replaced the headgasket and checked the head for warpage and cracks in Arizona and it was perfect. Put in an upgraded Ford 1035 headgasket and new bolts.”

Yeah,
http://www.mustangsvo.org/svostory.htm
They are not reliable drivers once they have high mileage unless a lot of work is done. They handle very well and can be built to 330-400hp depending on your cash. But they require lots of TLC. Finally, the 2.3 is a very "buzzy" little motor. Lots of vibration and noise.
Mine was a love/hate relationship.

I can second the love hate with the 2.3, my Merkur is the same way...You definately need to know how to work on cars with the 2.3....
Aside from the "normal" 2.3 stuff, that SVO is not that clean IMO...If I was going to buy one I'd make sure it was as original as possible...With the mods that were done seem to be standard 2.3 mods, but you know if he's got those mods the car was driven hard...
I don't like the rims, and the original tail lights suit the car way more than the LX's IMO...
For that price I'd rather buy a 5.0...

I would get it. They are pretty rare from what I have seen. There is a 85-86 svo for sale around the corner from me. I am considering getting it. As long as all the numbers check out on it. I dont think I would pay 3800 for it tho.
