My buddy at work knows this mexican dude that bought a 89 lx 4cyl and put a 5.0 in it, but then he couldn't get it to start, he said it ran when it was in the 90 GT he wrecked, he only wants 500 for it cuz he just got a cobra, do you think its worth it?

If the conversion was not a hack job then shit I would jump all over it.
I bet it's a wiring problem/fuel relay or something along that line.

how did it wreck?

yeah it ran before when in the 90 GT but how well?
what condition is the 89 4 banger in?
what would your plans be for it?
why doesn't it start now?
what color is the 4 banger int.? yes it matters ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
what exhaust is on it/you still need to smog it
front susp. I think needs beefing up now too
might be a diamond in the rough for someone but for me it would be a head-ache. GOod luck

if he swapped all the parts over and couldn't get it to run I'd have to question his mechanical ability and therefore question that everything was done right.
I never even changed my own oil before I did the swap on my car and it fired up the first try

bro... "I did a 5.0 swap but the car won't start and you can have it for $500" falls in the same category as Butch selling his car and claiming "It belonged to my mom and she only took it to the grocery store" ![[BS flag]](graemlins/bs_flag.gif)
That doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it. BUT, it does mean you should assume the motor is toast, imho. If it is still worth it to you with a toasted motor, it might be an ok buy.
Depends on how ambitious you are.
