***SPECIAL THANKS TO NORCAL MOTORSPORTS IN SACRAMENTO, CA FOR ALL THEIR HELP!!***

Well, I finally got a real motor for the '67. Here's a few pics, I'll try and update them as I go with the install.

...1967 Mustang Coupe, previously running a roller 302 with moderate cam, roller rockers and otherwise stock internals.

Just purchased a 418 from Ford Performance Solutions, fully forged bottom-end, hydraulic roller cam, CNC Ported Avenger 225 heads with 2.08 valves, canton deep sump oil pan, fully race-prepped block, sfi balancer and flex-plate, Victor Jr up top with Hooker Super comp coated headers and 900cfm Holley Pro-Jection. Motor should put out 580-590 horse when dialed-in. We'll see.

Other mods include subframe connectors, shelby t-bars, 4-wheel disk, Lincoln 8.8 rear with auburn, aftermarket axles and 3.73's,'05-08 bullit wheels, Will be running a complete 3" exhaust with x-pipe.

Coming Soon... Roll cage, cowl hood, 5-point harnesses and slicks. [Smile]

A few newer pics, the rest are from start to finish, ENJOY!

looks like a 8.8 from the picture.... i want to do the 8.8 swap, but it's just a little bigger than stock 8" and i dont want to buy new rims for the offset difference

Nice looking car/engine. 580hp is a very optimistic guess, but it'll be a ton of fun for sure regardless.

Hope that rear end is ready for 500+ RWHP! [Big Grin]

Those guys at FPS are hella cool. Went their with some friends to check them out a few years ago and they looked like a good shop. I'd like to have them do a short block for me down the road.

One last thing what kind of tranny do you have and is it a solid roller or hyd cam? Either way its gonna get down [burnout]

Are those jet hot coated super comp headers? Let me know if you run into any problems with clearance.... ( like power ster. lines and stuff.)

Congrats and good luck with the swap [patriot]

Pulled the old motor today, woohoo! I HOPE to have the new motor in next weekend. I'm going to take advantage of the motor being out so I can do some engine bay cleanup, rewiring, etc.

BTW, anyone have a good price on port-matching and hogging-out my Victor JR intake a bit?

PONDERING ON MY EXHAUST...

I will be redoing it and I've been thinkin.... The 3" x 12" Race bullet mufflers I'm planning on putting on are going to be insane loud. Anyone have any experience with these? I'm really thinking about getting a set of the stainless Ultra-Flo's instead. I will have turn-downs in front of the axles.

Anyone have any 3" stainless Ultra Flo's For sale?

since I got the motor already assembled I decided to look in the cylinders with a scope. Pistons are Flat tops for sure. I thought they may have been dished since I was told it was a lower compression setup. I'll have to look into what size the combustion chambers are. This thing may have more compression than I thought. ....Not that I'm complaining or anything.

Nice project! One muffler I really like on a built motor is the Borla XR-1. They sound unique, no "me too" Flowmaster sound.

I'll have to do a search for a sound-clip, something close to my application.

I think it's interesting that a lot of people are going back to the "packed" mufflers, and even combining them with chambers. I think flowmasters had their day, it was a great day, just tired of 'em. I did however like the old single-chambers, a bit obnoxious but kinda cool.

I got my intake gaskets today, the BIG trick-flow ones fit the head ports perfect.

I decided to get started on the port-matching since this intake is off another motor and far smaller.

I set the gaskets up on the heads, dropped the intake down in position, snugged the bolts, marked exactly where the intake sets on the gaskets, removed it all, mocked the gaskets up to the intake, and scribed the ports for port-matching. The ports should be damn close if not perfect when it's all done.

I'm going to need to remove a LOT of material from the intake~! It's amazing how the little things like this make a difference.
