It makes you smart enough no to drive 4+ hours just to have a stupid problem and spend the next 12 getting the car back home. Now as for the show. It's a scripted reality show. So the races are staged. The story is based on what happened last year on the streets. If you watch the video you can see them making the cars get lose by sawing on the steering wheel.
