To people that had their Stangs lowered. Does anybody had problems going through a full serve car wash? A buddy told me he can't bring him in cause it won't fit the rails for the car wash machine. I always bring my car to a full serve car wash now since it's only $10 where I'm at and they clean it inside and out and I'm thinking of dropping it. So just want to know if it'll create problems on lowered cars. Thanks in advance!

I hope you're not talking about the 04 Cobra
I would never bring that to a car wash......but that's just me i always wash my car myself
Anyway i have had many lowered cars and always had problems fitting into automated car washes
But it really depends on how low you go.....but i can tell you that your front lip will become f-ed up sooner or later when it's lowered.......that's why i removed mine

I never take my mach1 to a car wash... I always wash it myself at home, using only high quality soap, microfiber mitt, and microfiber towels.

A car wash will f*ck up black paint, always! I wouldnt do it unless youve got $$$ to hire a professional detailer to come out and buff out all the scratches it leaves.

Think I'm almost the only one that takes my baby to a car wash. To me it's worth the hussle of taking it to them, since I know these people and they do a really good job and I'm always on the rush. Plus you can't beat the $10 full serve wash, they vacumn the inside and clean it too. On black cars you can't really be too picky because it does shows everything. You just have to tell them to make sure all swirls are wipe out nicely. Otherwise you see everything from swirls to hair line scratches. Next time I do it I'll check the height from the rails and just estimate it adding a couple of inches from the rubber under the air dam.

What springs are you going with?
Because you also have to be aware of the cats hanging down fairly low especially with an aftermarket mid-pipe
I have H&R Sports and the "U-bolts" on my exhaust hit bumps quite often.

I take my 96 to the car wash all the time, they just pull it to the side and wash it by hand.

I'm planning on installing H&R race springs w/ isolator kits & MM caster camber plates. Thanks for giving me the heads up on the xpipes. That's also one of the future mods I'm planning, Bassani x-pipes w/ cats to be added. I got Bassani cat backs right now. I just hope it won't be too low that I won't be able to bring it to the full service car wash. It's just really convenient to take it there than wash it myself. They wash all kinds of fancy cars there too, I see Vettes, Mercedez, BMW's all the time. Thanks!

I hear ya
With the race springs and isolators you really shouldn't even have too much of a problem as that set-up hardly lowers the car but 1"-1.25" maybe less with the isolators.
By the way if you are interested and have yet to buy them i have some brand new rear isolators if you want them let me know
Here are a couple pics of my buddy's 03:

Cool, man your buddy's 03 looks really sweet. It's lowered just perfect. Tell him nice ride! That's how I want mine to look like also. I have a buddy that installed the street version H&R springs and man that thing is way too low, it srapes on everything. He's really disappointed. Then I knew another dude w/ an 04 and said to use the race version and to make sure and install new spring isolators the Urethane ones to add to the height. I don't want it too low, cause right now with the stock height I'm barely clearing the wheel stoppers and the curbs. Plus mine is an everyday driver too, so I take this baby almost anywhere. I'll let you know if I will need the isolators you got. The dude I'll deal with said he'd give me a deal if I buy everything from him. Also he said I might not need new ones, he might just put back my stock ones. Thanks for the info and the cool pics!

Are you considering not lowering your car just so you can continue to take it to a car wash?? [ October 13, 2005, 05:17 PM: Message edited by: RioredGT ]

I take mine to the Car Wash all the time. It's a little lower than yours and it's Fox. I have no problems,
PS, I really like the TUCHLESS car wash, they work really well.

I a little paranoid about anyone driving my (even if it is just to line it up on the car wash rail). Anyone (sorry for hijacking the thread) know if there will be a problem going to the car wash with 10.5" rear rims with 315's on????

half the fun is spending the time getting your car looking great and then showing it off.
but when i didn't have a spot to wash my notchback i took it a place and it was fine with my springs in. [ October 13, 2005, 09:58 PM: Message edited by: shiftylx ]
