Most people will say to trade it for a manual, or ask why I bought an auto in the first place. Answer to those is I found a great deal on it and it was low mileage. Originally I thought an auto would be a welcomed change from the hassle of shifting my old sixer, but now I'm getting that itch again. Here is my question, How much would it cost for me to do a auto to manual swap? I'm planning on dropping a built block and sc eventually so would need the tranny to hold up to 500 whp/wtq at the least(my ultimate goals)
Price break down and labor estimations are greatly appreciated. Any info would be graciously accepted. If you can do this or can get me the parts, I'll be checking my pm's.
Info on the car is, 2003 Mustang GT auto coupe ~45kmiles

wanna handle alot of power? put a built c4 in it!
JohnB does swaps, in under 2 days I hear
Its not hard to do the swap yourself, just make sure that you have all the parts you need before you start taking the car apart!
And have somebody help you when you remove the AOD, its heavy!
You need: Pilot Bearing $15 Flywheel (steel) $235.95 Flywheel Bolts $8.88 Clutch (ford) $184 (centerforce) $269.95 Pressure Plate Pressure Plate Bolt and Dowell Kit $13.95 Clutch Alignment Tool $7.39 Throwout Bearing $33.95 Shift Fork $30 Bell Housing $199.95 (you can re-use all but two of your AOD to Engine mounting bolts, the top 2 bolts need to be an inch shorter, I just cut mine to fit)
T-5 $1,399.95 for the T-5z (if you wanna make lots of power get a Tremec $1,899.95)
T-5 to Bellhousing bolts (they are either 10mm or 12mm thread (I can't remember) and .75 pitch, you can get them at ACE or True Value)$4
Right Speedo gear for your rear ratio $26 Clutch Quadrant/Cable/Firewall Adjuster (While you can get an adjustable cable, they are usually junk and stretch, a stock cable and a firewall adjuster works great)$125.95 (summit)
Pedal Assy from a 5speed car $?? (JohnB has some) 12point 12mm socket $3.89
MAYBE a diffrent driveshaft, I reused mine [ July 18, 2007, 02:38 PM: Message edited by: Curt ]

thanks man, I'm just waiting for my aod to crap itself. Wish I could do this asap, but funds are at an all time low heh.. Hope I'll be able to remember how to drive and it wont take too long to learn the shift points in a torquer car than the sixer I'm used to.
