It may not be an open track question, but I have a 2002 GT that I open track. It doesn't see road use. The motor is stock minus bolt ons and has 100,000 miles on it. When it comes time for a new motor and more power I have options (coyote, 4V, 2V,etc...) my question is, how hard would it be to but a carburated 302 (or a variance) into my car? I don't think it would be too difficult, but I have never found articles on it either. I figure a carb'd motor is the easiest to deal with and diagnose at the track. Also parts are easier to find an less expensive.

Very easily done and have seen several race cars done just this way. K- member from or for a 79-95 5.0 car and then the engine and trans of your choice.

Ok great. I can keep my 3650 trans. What about the power steering, brakes etc...?

Brakes are a non issue. If you go 302 based motor, fox brackets and pump will work. The 94-95 timing cover, water pump and acc. Brackets will give more room in front of the motor but the fox stuff will work fine, is easier to find and is lighter.

You will more than likely need a hood that gives you some clearance for the carb and air cleaner
