Well things didn't go as planned today my Dad got a little over aggressive trying to chase down a Porsche. Those of you that know thunder hill it happened in turn 11, he got in the throttle a little early before the suspension has a chance to settle from the hill & the wheels broke free doing about 70 mph. He hit the tire barrier 2 times and the car actually got off tIhe ground. He's prett lucky, he's not even sore. The car is a total loss but it's all good because we have track insurance & insured for 2X it's worth. Here is a pick of before & after.

my little 331 built by Turbo50, man this little bitch was running hard. Passing 80K Porche's in a mustang is a great felling

Yeah man she was spinning the wheels at the end of 3rd. Wish I had more traction in the back. I'll post up the GoPro rollbar mounted video as soon as i get back in town. It was a pretty violent crash, very lucky he didn't get hurt. In the same corner in HPDE3 a 2010 Mustang crashed, flipped & caught on fire. The passenger the father was air lifted to a local hospital, the son was drivIng. I guess they had about 70K in that car. I seen at least 7 totaled cars today. It was hot & slippery.

1. Glad everyone is ok and it wasn't to o serious.
2. Your dad needs to get his own since this is his second strike.
I do admire your dad's go for it attitude and trying to drive it with an aggressive nature, since this is a controlled environment. [burnout]
i hope you got in some good laps prior to this incident though, again sorry for your loss Jay.
Chin up bro!

Those are actually still sitting in my garage. We had a pair of Corbeau Cam locks in there.

What's up Greg? Fortunately I ran this set up at Thunderhill & Sonoma before this weekend. Unfortunately this trip I was suppose to run on Saturday once again. This was the 1st time we ever trailered it to the track also. Luckily between our track insurance and our "racing budget" that the wives dont know about, we will be back on the track before we know it. Probably done for the season but I'll build something even better this time. I'm not going to worry about paint this time. I'll rattle can that bitch lol. Having nice paint on a track car is a headache.

Wow, that looks like one hell of a bad day right there! Glad to hear that no one was injured (at least in your car). Best of luck to you and your dad on putting another car together.

'Track insurance?'. Do tell.

Is the frame or suspension bent? It looks like a lot of body damage. If that's the case you could just replace body panels with light weight parts and strip the interior, you already have the trailer might as well make it a real track car now. The weight reduction alone will be a huge improvement in performance.

Already had the interior stripped besides dash, door panels & console. The frame is ripped in 2 places and it's pushed about 4" to the passenger side. There's no coming back from that. The passenger side is also messed up including the rear bumper. Drivers door is hard to open, passenger door is stuck closed and even the trunk has a time opening. The car hit the tire barrier & did a 180 in the air. The NASA official said the rear tires were off the ground at least 3'. It's official dead. RIP

I had this Maximum Motorsport kit & upgraded the springs to H&R race springs (RED). Also replace every single bushing with poly bushings. Battery relocation & weight reduction.

Thanks but I'm officially done with mustangs, at least late models. The next car I build or buy will be strictly old school. For now I'm looking at bikes.

Jay, go buy a cheap fox body or another sn95 and just beat the shit out of it! No need to get out of the sport considering it wasn't even your fault that the car crashed!

Yeah that was my 1st thought but after really thinking about it. I have to many hobbies and this although it's fun it's not my favorite. Plus this is my "out" to really focus on my priorities. 1 buying another house & working on kid #2. I will always be a car guy but old schools is where I started & it's where I belong. One of my 1st cars was 69 Z28. Should have never sold it. I can see my self dropping 30K on a fast back or Z28. I'll have it within 5 years when I hit the big 4-0! Damn that's old lol

I'm taking a hiatus from the sport myself and am looking to find a new home for my 91 coupe. Message me if you're interested?
