how much oil do you run in your canton oil pan ? i just pulled 10 qts. out of my mustang its a fox canton pan with crank scraper...windage tray i dont want to blow the rear main seal running too much oil but according to my dip stick it needs like ten qts.?!

mine says it takes 7qts and it ussually takes about 8 or 9 intill dipstick is full

I'm not sure how often you change your oil but you can go way beyond 3000 miles like they recommend you do. You can go at least 5000 on regular oil these days let alone synthetic oil, depending on your mods of course.
Also make sure you have the correct dipstick because I have seen wrong ones put in before.
Is your oil filter relocated because that can also add at least a quart?
Check out Amsoil because for the extra cost of it you can easily 15k on certain types of the product or as much as 25k, no joke!!

Yeah I figured with the extra quarts in there it should take longer to breakdown...I have about 6k on this last oil change i never thought about synthetic lasting longer i always thought it was just better for hp.. stock ford filter in stock location aluminum heads trickflow cam just boltons i did have a leaky regulator spewing gas into my intake but that fixed....
