I was wondering if anyone was planning on racing in the Slver state classic? If so would I would like to get a group together and travel down their. I've never participated in the race before it sound like ALOT of fun.

Its a 90mile (race) from Lund Nevada to Ely Nevada. They shut down highway 113 for the event. Were talkin 11-17 mile straight aways so you can go really fast. I'm pretty sure the next race is in May but their might be one before that I'll have to check. Look on you tube, there's a bunch of video footage. Just typ in (silver state classic race). The speeds are pretty impressive and so are the crashes.

When you select your speed catagory your given a time that you need to get as close as possible to. The person or team that gets the closest wins.

My buddy has two cars set up for this event, i hope to make it out there with him at least to help out. I would also like to try the "texas mile"

Yes... Anyone can go. They have speed brackets as low as 90mph. [Roll Eyes]

I think the lowest speed class is 95mph which might seem kind of slow for most cars nowadays, but you have to remember that you must maintain that speed through turns, dips, a bit of twisties (depending on the course) and other possible road conditions. It is definitely not a flat out run in a straight line. You can get the rules for 2010 here:

They also have something in California called the Mojave mile, i wanted to do the silver state, but i think im a little too far into making my car a drag car to do that...
