Seems like they've been at it for quite awhile with Mustangs.

Any opinion regarding suspension work with these guys?

Everything I have gotten done has been great. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Mike really knows how to make the Mustang suspension work.

Later,
Scott Fraser
I know Mike uses Maximum Motorsports parts for a lot of suspension builds he does, but the car in that ad is not Mikes car. [patriot] [/QB]
The yellow car in the maximum ad is mikes car. I have my coupe over there right now getting the full maximum treatment. Mike is a great guy, and he has done work on a couple of my mustangs. I would recommend that anyone in the bay go to maier before they go to apex.

Unless it's a different ad than I have seen, the Yellow #91 Fox in the MM ads is the MM shop American Iron race car.

Also, Bill Maier (Mike's Dad??) raced Trans-Am back in the old days. One of my friends now has his 1968 coupe that he raced.

The blue car. Of interest is the silver car in the background is Jay Bittle from JBA.

custom cages, YES real expensive, WOLFE has to be the best weld it your self kits out there for the price... Its great for the fabricator and cheaper for the customer. Now BMW's a whole different story [Big Grin]

All my suspension works is done at Maier Racing. I have Maier springs and Maier tubular subframes everything else is MM and Bilstein.

i used to work at apex, ive seen the good bad and ugly i cant explain what or why cause i dont want anymore drama and dealings with the owner.

all i can say is that mike maier is very knowledgeable and does excellent work. the times that i have done any thing with him or bill maier i have never had any issues. i have seen many things that he has built and modified. the work is more involved and not limited, a few of the local mustang only shops(not all) are limited b/c they dont have the specialty equiptment that he does. ive also delt with griggs racing and seen their stuff and i can say the same for them that i can say for maier. both real good suspension shops and have many years of true mustang hands on. to sum it all up look at the records of happy customer testimonials and how the owner runs the company. youll get a good feeling where your more comfortable and you will always get what you pay for.

I was just there yesterday and he was putting a cage in a new Mustang. Looked like a very nice install. They do good work there.

Posted by e89notch (Member # 6610) on :

its very expensive though

Posted by Todd Z28 (Member # 951) on :

You get what you pay for....
I have a 6 point Wolfe in my Camaro and I've seen a lot of the stuff Miaer and Blaine Fab have done. No contest, the custom install stuff is way nicer and I'd trust it a lot more in a crash. But we all have to do what we can afford...

I have the MM 6 point with swing out's in My notch and am happy with it, I am sure custom is better but for the price MM seem's to fit pretty well.
