Do you all recommend teflon tape on the fill/drain plugs, or just torque to spec and all good?

Shouldn't need it. If you do, liquid teflon sealant is better than the tape. It dries very slow.

I would recommend the telflon tape on the drain plugs.
2 1/2 quarts will fill it up dextron 3 automatic transmission oil.

I think it's the T56 that takes syncromesh. Any white thread sealant will work fine. It's not critical.
