What's up, so I have a 90 mustang 5.0 and I have been having a problem. The car cranks but won't start, But if I push start it the car turns on right away. I'm wondering if anyone would know any solutions or has had the same problem.

Thanks

Sounds like a weird combination of a problem. Well since you can push start it you know that all the signals to make it fire work. And that signal goes away when you crank it over with the key. Try this... Place the ignition in the run position. Jump the starter relay and see if it starts. Im Guessing that you have a worn out ignition switch under the steering column.

Had the same problem in a 90 also and did turn out to be the ignition switch in the colum. Had to tighten the pot metal holding the plastic copper slider and where the wires for igntion go.

Ignition switch assembly was my guess too.

Do a test to see when turning on the car by the ignition if you get fuel pressure or spark. Does the fuel pump turn on for a few seconds when you put the ignition in the ON position? Take out a spark plug wire, stick a piece of metal like a bolt in the boot so it makes an electrical connection and fix it 1-2mm from a grounded piece of metal under the car. Do you see and hear it spark under dim lighting when you crank?
