Ok so my dumbass accidently drilled a screw through the tank on top. Didnt notice till i filled the tank today and noticed alot of fuel leaking. Now i know i can fix the leak easily but my question is, my smog is due in a couple weeks and tomorrow is perfect for me to smog car since i just through stock h pipe on. Will i fail for the leak? Its not leakin any more since i topped off, but my boy says they will fail me for it having a small hole? Any idea if it will fail? Headers and everything ive done are smog legal. Thanks.

Not a smog tech, so take this for what it is, my experience. Obd1 systems like our foxes are not as sensitive to the pressure in the gas tank. All smog places I have been too, take the gas cap off to test how well it holds vac. If your car isn't throwing a mil, or check engine light you should be fine. Again I don't live in a big city or enhanced smog area so your smog check may vary from my personal experience.

No EVAP monitors on OBD1 but if the inspector smells gas or sees gas leaking i am sure it will fail. But as i said no EVAP monitors on OBD1 engine management systems

It will fail the evap test. Ob1 vehicles with single gas tanks get a low evap pressure test.

So it will fail? It only smells like gas because when it leaked. Its not leakin anymore. Should i attempt a smog at a free retest shop? If i fail i can fix then go back.

If there is a hole in the tank it will fail.

Ok i was thinkin of this just for a quick fix. But i fugure ide go to a parts store and get a puddy like jb weld or something and see if that fixes it till my next smog session. Btw i have no check engine light. Ive heard if no light is on i should be fine

I got failed last year for having a crack in the gasoline fumes return line that passes from the charcoal canister back to the gas tank. So if the evap can pick that up, I'm sure it could pick up the hole in the tank. But as long as you can make it air tight for the test you should be good, but that's something I would fix soon tho.

Yeah it actually fixed it good. It was just 2 tiny holes. The kit i bought was super easy to use. Went to smog it and passed with like nothing. Time to take off that damn stock hpipe. Damn car sounds like a hybrid
