Will it still go in gear??... Or does it grind when it goes into gear.. Because if it goes into gear but just revs like you said it might just be the clutch that's going out [patriot]

Lol I have never met arch but he probably knows my reputation on this website , I've been a member for years with countless happy customers with BEAUTIFUL cars with thousands of dollars into them with a lot of power, yet here comes your car that I went above and beyond for like washing your car , painting your calipers and doing your brakes properly! no thank you or acknowledgement yet you want to try an get a transmission out of me and give me bs about you need to feed your kids and get to work...dude if you can't afford to play the game..get out of it!

I can't believe I wasted hours on your car just to get this bullshit in return

Posted by saclve (Member # 13280) on :

Man if im somehow wrong then I apologize 1000x but I just dont see how a shift fork was broke if u never drove car but yet u told me u drove car.. u expect me to say thankyou when I drop off a running mustang and pick up a broke tranny car ?? Pretty sure anybody would respond same way I dont want no tranny from u. I just said I cant see spendeing $700 on work that was not needed b4 I gave u car.. I said I use this car to getvto work to feed my family yes that is correct.

Posted by saclve (Member # 13280) on :

Now if u told me u went thru gears and shit broke I would have responded totally different . But instead u just saying car was broke wen I dropped it off wtf dude u know goodvand dammed well carv was running fine. I dont want shit from u bro im going to handle it myself.

Posted by saclve (Member # 13280) on :

Doesnt matter the car is broke I am fixing it obviously thisv whole deal went sour and thats not what I wanted, I wasnt expectingb to drop another $700 on tranny work but its all gravey hopefully this is the last time besides dealing with clutches

Just for the record that tranny is a piece of CRAP very weak and should not be used behind any engine you push to it's limit. Everyone knows this and personally i would not bother repairing it. Change it out to a stronger unit and bite the Bullet. Now if the mechanic pushed the car and broke the unit he is responsible and should make good. That is why in our shop we never push a car that does not belong to us. A few years back one of our employees had a Z06 Vette in for matinance and drove the car and spun the wheels for an entire city block. Problem was he did it on the guys block that owned the car. So he called me and i fired the employee on the spot. You can not abuse a customers car period unless you have written permission for testing reasons. Also the mileage should be recorded and logged on the work order. This would also protect the mechanic. If there was no mileage on the car recorded on the odometer other than a few tenths they you would know the mechanic was telling the truth. Today you have to take photos of the cars when they come in for service and the odometer. We do this to every car we service. Protect you ASS is what it is called. Just saying!!

Anyway it goes I dropped off a working tranny picked up a broke one, ppl can say oh he wants free work but thats a poor fucking excuse for hiding the truth , for now on I will do exactly as you said and hope that I never have to deal with this shit again.

Anyway what transmission can I upgrade to ??

Posted by Tom Renzo (Member # 13165) on :

Always log the mileage or take a photo of the odometer when leaving you car. If it comes back with lets say 40 miles more on the speedo you got your answer. Just the way it is today.!!! By the way as an owner i am responsible for my workers. NO EXCUSES cover your ASS

What is your point ?? Because I made a few passes at a street legal wed over a month ago makes me responsible, I drive this car to work 7 days a week and have never had not one problem going into any gear or did anything that would break a shift fork , regardless the damage is done ppl make me out to be the bad guy but I am just simply sharing my frustration and problem.

People aren't making you out to be the bad guy, and neither am I. I'm not looking to start an argument with you, nor am I accusing you or anyone of ruining your clutch fork, clutch, transmission, or any of the problems you're having.

But I highly doubt broke4.6 broke your 4.6 ( pun intended ) he seems like a stand up individual, and went the extra mile to wash your car, and repaint your calipers ( I've never met the man. )

But if you're a student ( going off your listed occupation ) and this 98 GT being your only means of transportation ( again, assuming since you said you drive it 7 days a week ) I don't think you really have any business taking it to the track to see how fast it runs a 1/4.

Lol not my only car but I see no reason not to take my mustang to the track I prefer to drive this over my other car so I depend on it and if doing a few 1320 runs will break ur car . Then yhe same shit will happen on the street when you drvide to push it which im assuming it was tested and shit crapped out . This car will only be daily driven for another month or so and I didnt come here for advice on how to live my life man just talking about car and problem I had.

Somehow my last reply was misunderstood? I'm not talking about your life. What you decide to do with that car is completely yours. The point I was making is you cannot expect a car to be reliable if you're taking it to the track to squeeze every inch of power for a 13.20.

Regardless, A transmission swap is not hard. You can complete it in roughly a day with simple hand tools. So why not climb under it, start by dropping the transmission and get to work? Since its not going to be your daily driver anymore, I'm sure you can do a little work to the car.

Hope this advice helps.

i dont think u was scamming, i seen your fist post u as a individual trying to find a relacement tranny, then i seen folks as my self saying go back an complain, if it worked before u got there and it didnt as u left that,s a def problem. parts are used , a lil beaten more if u yourself beat on them, but no body else has the right to beat on your car, now my self have drove others cars, never beat on any of my coustomers cars in any disrespectful manner and still have shit break doing just that. i then seen u on here getting bashed as a scammer, u had a valid point and argument except cafords has a twisted sense an many different opinions about many things. gd luck, sometimes shit just breaks, i try to never drive any bodys cars ever for this simple reason here.those trannys i heard are pretty weak anyways.

Sorry man im just stressed out and I just need to get it fixed . I work 7 days a week 2 jobs . A day 5 days a week so I honestly dont gave time im going to park this car once its finished and hit track once a month maybe and drive to work 1-2 a week

Duncan is correct. As an owner i can not justify bustin someones stuff up by abusing it. You as an owner can drive that car off a cliff. But if i do it i am liable Period this is the LAW. So that is why i fired an employee for the vette thing. No shop has the right to abuse anything . Dunken is correct and i agree with him as owners i normally do not drive a customers car other than if the repair warrants it. Now as far as the 45 goes bottom line is that tranny is a piece of shit. And the owner of the repair facility should man up and repair it. It is your choice to replace that tranny if you want to pound on it. With that is the mechanic going to at least compromise on the repair. Or is he walking away with a full price deal. 4 weeks ago i replaced a tranny for a good customer on a jeep. I bought it from a junk yard that guarantees his parts, Well fifth gear went south and i repaired the unit at no cost to the customer. That is just good business. naturally the junk yard did not reimburse me so he is history. We do thousands with the junkyard a year and now he is begging us for our business back. No can do CHARLIE the guy is dun. Found a hew junkyard to do business with. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do the right thing for customers. Just me!!

Not taking either side but will say this. Shyt happens and you move forward. I've been fucked over a lot of times, I learn keep moving. A few months ago my tranny decided to go out and I wasnt even dogging the car, I was going home after meeting up with another member to buy some parts. Oh well it sucks, I spend $500 on a rebuilt tranny an it was money I wasn't expecting to spend but hey I wanted my car back on the road. I couldn't really blame anyone cause when something going it go, it's going to go. So instead of going back and forth on here, Get you car fixed and move forward.

What if, simply it wasn't this guys fault? This guy said, that he has and builds fast cars. I'm sure he has been doing it for years, and driving these vehicles at the same time. I highly believe he would have any trouble at all with a stock GT.

I am more inclined to believe that your girlfriend is the one who probably messed the trans up and is blaming it on somebody else to save her own ass. He said it himself, it sounded like she was having trouble with the clutch. I think you are looking in the wrong spot for the blame. [Cool]

Ppl say im cheap because I dropped off working car and now im out $700 replacing a broke tranny, I honestly have no idea how you would even break a shift fork but regardless i thought this site was here to solve problems and get people help I would appreciate it if you just erase this crap all together

Anything is possible, like I said only reason I posted anything was because I installed tranny nearly 5 months ago and have had no problems at all, then I dropped off car and pick it up with no 3rd or 4th gear, the tranny I picked up shpuld be installed here in next few days so hope this last tranny swap I endure.
