Put 1.94 valves in also. Looking at trick flow stage one cam and the f cam. Has anyone ran this combo on a 302. piston to valve clearance an issues? Or which length push rod will you need. Smog not an issue

Just check PTv clearance and rod length.... Don't be in my boat lol

I recoment tfs stage 1 or e cam, seen that set up with ported explore intake n e cam make 294 on a dynojet.. un touch gt40 heads [burnout]

e or b cam, i've used both many times before and they are both good cams. are you running gears?

Posted by 93mustang50 (Member # 6642) on :

piston to valve clearance should be fine if you're using stock pistions, stock pushrods should work fine as well. roller rockers or rocker arms? might need pedestal shims, no more then one or two tho

TFS1 retarded 4 degrees to take the advance out with 1.7s. Ran it on a few setups with success

Okay so I have 1.7 roller rockers from comp cams
I checked the specs of both cams. Trickflow stage 1
With 1.7 is what ill most likely run. When you say -4 degree
Are you referring to when I'm setting my ingition time or
Engine timing (crankshaft to camshaft) just makin sure.

engine timing,,,,assuming you get a double roller adjustable chain, where you can set it adavanced, "straight up" or retarded a few degrees. these settings will "move " the torque curve either higher or lower in the rpms. I personally have my TFS stage 1 cam advanced 4 degrees, I knew the sn was heavier then other mustangs so I wanted the torque off the line. make sure you match the valve springs to your cam+1.7rr specs

Hey mack did u degree the cam in? It has advance ground into it broski

I found out about that after (the 4 degrees ground into it) so now it supposed to have 8* of advance. and no I didn't degree the cam, which was a mistake , but I just assumed they sent me the right cam that I ordered and it would be all good. and to be honest I have no real complaints, I kinda wished that I had set it straight up though, since theres already 4* gound into it. my best et has been 14.3 at 99.8 mph on street tires and front sway bar removed , I wonder sometimes if this set up could be faster with the cam timing set differently , what do you think Turbo Dan??
OP, Im running GT40P heads btw, similar to yours, with stock valves.

It could be faster but I'd just leave it alone u seem to like it and it has good manners right

trickflow stage 1 and 1.7s will give valve float I have that set up gt40s with 1.94s 1.7s and trickflow stage 1 it produces too much lift and im kicking my self in the ass for getting it it feels slower than stock. the lift the cam and rockers is like .542 and I would just stay with a 1.6 rocker arm

If your experiencing valve float, why not upgrade to some stiffer valve springs? Those should keep them from staying open

99.8 seems low what gears n what intake n ill would run the cam straigth with 1.6

I have stock port gt40s just all new hardware, I ran 1.72rr with fcam. Never felt any valve float or anything close to valve float. I'd recheck or redue your valve springs bro
