Hey guys quick question. I'm working on a 5.0 engine and I'm trying to remove the heater core metal bypass hose in the intake. Is it acceptable to relocate the coolant temp sensor to the rear of the intake? I understand that the readings may be a little off until the engine fully warms up but I think I can live with that. The rear port looks to go directly into a coolant passage. Thanks guys let me know!

Why not use an adapter fitting and install it in the same hole?

Trying to clean up the front of the intake , I can't imagine its gonna make that big of a difference, but just incase what adaptor fitting are you talking about? I'd assume it would be a special one to have the elbow and ect bung?

I was just thinking this yesterday for the same reason.
let me know if you figure something out...

Idk if you cut the conector off so you can add more wire , so youcan screw it in on the block right by the smog pump... I tried unscrewing it but it stripped due to it being it needed an allen wrench to remove

On my other block, thats where i i hooked up my aftermarket gauge and it read the same as on my stock cluster

I know you can just bypass the hoses to the egr no problem until cold weather then it might idle funny or something but are you also goanna take off the egr plate or just cap it

1/2 to 3/8 bushing/reducer, screw the bushing into lower manifold then ECT sensor into the bushing. then cap off the outlet from the water pump, thats how i did it

Yea plan is to delete the egr plate , wire in the resistors so the comp doesn't freak out. Then I was either gonna flip the throttle body so the iac was in the rear instead of the front, or just relocate it. This is going in an old school so I'm stripping this baby down to the bare minimum !

Nope bypass tube is just to get to the heater core, toss it

Ahhh a pre smog 74 &earlier... Im doing it on my 89 gt... Where were you talking about relocating the temp sensor somewhere on the back of the lower intake ??? I didnt see anywhere when i quickly checked this morning

Yea im not running a/c or heater core... And my bypass tube hose in the rear just bends right back into it

Oh this is a trickflow upper and lower I guess they must have extra ports?

Well I just bought the elbow, I'd rather have that there mostly because I like the way the hose looks rather than a cap with a plug(I know I'm weird haha! )
