No, you will need the adaptor plate so you can bolt it since they are designed to bolt up to 4.6's which is different. You will also have the modify the tunnel because of the size of the thing. With a 351w, IF its a built one, the t56 isnt a great option if you aren't going IRS also. The driveshaft is significantly shorter and can bind with too much power. You will also have to get either a D&D viper output shaft or some sort of sensor conversion box for the speedo since the t56 is made for electric speedos.

IF you still want to go with the T56, there are actually a couple places (such as ford motorsports) that sells T56's that bolt up to 302, 351w, and 351c. All the 302, 351w, & 351c have the same bell housing pattern so you will need the adaptor plate to go form the 4.6 to one of those. Or just get a T56 which is made for 5.0/5.8 motors.

Ok that's what I've been reading so would you say its best just to go with a tremec?

Yeah.. The 5th & 6th gears are both overdrive so no performance gains at all from a T-56.. Look into a tko500/600 or a 3550.. I personally LOVE the tko-600 paired with a 351w and 355/373 rearend gears.. Or a tko-500 if you have lower gears.. But my friends with 3550's have NO complaints and love their transmission despite the weight..
