I would think your due for a tune, more gas, air, and espicially cause you have a cam and heads, yea you feel a bit faster now but with a tune you use its fullest potential... just my 2 cents.

Honestly I think once said and done you will find that a dyno tune isn't worth your money at that level of modification. What you need is an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a good timing light. Even the money you will spend on a mail order tune would be close to pointless. You can take that money and put it elsewhere and pick up more power. I only say this because I went that route and only picked up 6hp and 8ft/tq and the tuner actually gave me half of my money back because I already hadthe car dialed in.

ive seen plenty of hci cars do just fine with timing/fuel pressure set..yea im sure a tune would bring it out a little more..tunes go for around 500$? with a sct chip..not worth it..your gonna kick yourself for spending that much just to get 5-10 more horses..set your timing and fuel pressure..see what it likes and be done..

driveability will be a lot better with a dyno tune. Again, not cheap but it will make a world of difference on driveability.

That's all I used the dyno tune for on my n/a 347. Partial throttle drivability at cruising speed.

If the car is setup correctly, drivability shouldn't be a issue. A bleed plate on the IACV, timing, Fuel pressure, and a TPS adjustment will do wonders for it.

But if you want to spend 100's on a tune, go for it! [Big Grin]

John I think the art of dialing a car in with the tools the factory has given you on these old pushrods is completely lost!

I burned a hole in a piston from a mail order tune...

Thanks guys I thought the tune included a chip I didn't know I had to buy that also. John B you gave me some info I have to look into a bleed plate I never heard of that before

TPS was set a year ago .98 .99 I can't remember but timing is 13* fuel pressure is 49psi. I guess I need to take off the 20" cobras and slap on the slicks see what it do!

try lowering that fuel pressure some [Eek!]

What is the base fuel pressure set at with the vacuum disconnect. Start it at 42 pounds and adjust in half pound increments. You will find you really won't need much more than stock fuel pressure. Make sure you time it with the spout connector out so the computer doesn't try to adjust the timing. 13 degrees should be good just pay attention for ping and double check your TPS. That thig should be running tits if all is done correct!

Its good I had put the stock injectors back in thats why its 49 psi vacume off. It pings at 41 yeah spout always comes out when I adjust the timing I running a a9p too which advances the timing more than a a9l It does run tits but I do have a hanging idle which seems to go away after a 150 miles after I reset the ecu. No problems just really wanted to know if the chip is worth it.

Honestly a chip like the sct only becomes worth the money when it requires adjustments of parameters outside the capabilities of the ecu. Usually this occurs in boosted applications or extremely wild head cam intake big inch motor combos with outrages amounts off fuel needed and likewise complicated fuel and timing tables. And at that point you would probably be looking into a stand alone engine management system. Bottom line save the money and put it into something else.
