still problems with the 65 3 spd. the new allegedly correct clutch pressure plate interferes with the inside of the bell housing. the old pressure plate worked, though only barely (it has some scoring on it that might indicate minor interference problems). the profile of the "shoulder" of the pressure plate seems to be an issue. anybody know if a 65 bell housing designed for a 8.5" clutch should work with a 9" clutch for a 69?? this is getting too weird and any useful ideas will be greatly appreciated. (frankenstein cars are a problem)

Are you using a Borg&Beck or Diaphram pressure plate?

And if it calls for a 8.5" setup...I'm willing to bet you'll need that over a 9" combo.

diaphram plate. that's what came out of it. it worked originally. the 8 .5" is stock for a 65, but like i said the tranny is actually out of a 69. the flywheel is obviously correct for the 69 as the 8.5 65 was completely different in appearanc, having a significant step down on it.
