swapped rear ends with one that 373's and disc brakes but i noticed it leaking when i hooked up the drive shaft to it. it leaks from whear the drive shaft and rear end meet is there a seal there that i just need to realace.

tail shaft bushing, or driveshaft seal, something of that nature i may be wrong?

its called a pinion seal

ONCE YOU BACK OFF THE PINION NUT YOU MIGHT LOOSE YOUR BEARING PRELOAD, I WOULD CALL IT SAFE AND REPLACE THE PINION SEAL AND A NEW CRUSH SLEAVE.

the crush sleeve is ony about $10 its cheap insurance intead of spending more money when the rearend lets go, talk to any reputable shop and they will tell you the same, used bearing pre load is 8-14 in. lbs

i just replaced my pinion seal today... it was leaking also.

tourqe what to? if your talking about the pinoin nut, you need to put 8-14 in pound of preload on the pinion bearings, the main caps are 60 ft. pounds

you can not set pinion preload unless you also remove the axles and the carrier with the spec you are giving. Plus the main caps are more than 60 ft lbs..

nope seirra says main caps are 60-65ft. pounds. [Big Grin] and yes you would have to diassemble it,to do this right.
