I wouldn't think so, if you took your time and made several slow passes rather than all at once, most newer paints have a flex agent added so they don't crack when applied to plastic bumper covers.

the baseball bat method is old school but effective
my friends dad used to do it
saw a car that he had done with the bat and it looked pretty well rounded
he said its all about patience
and i know a baseball bat is cheaper than the tool [Razz]

I just rolled my fenders with an aluminum slugger yesterday, came out pretty nice, did the job, and cheap too! lol.

but i would recommend a heat gun for anyone that doesnt wanna chip their paint. [patriot]

Used a baseball bat on mine just warm up the paint a little with a hair dryer or something if your afraid it will chip.

heat guns are 10$ at harbor freight, even if they only last a day it is worth it.

I used a heat gun on mine when I rolled them. All it did was make the paint chips hot as they fell off the car.

But a little touch up paint fixed all that.

Sounds like you have never done it before, lol.

The paint cracks 99% of the time. The older the paint and the tighter you roll, the more it cracks. Luckily when it does crack, it cracks at the fold, so it is usually not visible.

I used a heat gun and 2 people, and paint still cracked as was mentioned above. I even used an IR gun to verify that the paint temp was at 120-130 degrees at all times. Still cracked.

If you have a nice paint job, fender rolling can be extremely stressful.
