im just wondering if it is a direct plug in to an 87 not maf with an 89 maf wireing harness.

if the `89 harness is truely from an `89, then yes it will work.

Check 2 area's of the harness.

the dash plug near the brake booster, on the 87 will be 2 round plugs, grey and black.

 -

Make sure the new `89 MAF harness matches -
 -

If the "`89" harness is actually a `90+ it will not work, as it will have a single orange plug there like this -
 -

The other place to check is the kickpanel next to where the computer plugs in, the `87 will have a single green square plug, a ground wire, and the large ECU connector for the computer.
 -

A `90+ will have an additional round grey plug, so if it looks like this it will NOT work -
 -

hope that helps.

the 87-88 harness' are for speed density cars, 88 california cars are mass air(good ol' smog)and 89 everywhere is mass air.87-89 are interchangeable.
