how hard is it to replace them on a 87-93 a arm?

I would just replace the whole a-arm with a new FMS set. You can get a set online for $180 with new ball joints and new bushings.

The balljointys arent hard at all to replace but if the bushings are wasted just replace it with FMS ones like he said

Pretty easy just use a BFH and hit the side of the ball joint to rattle it then bash the top with the nut still attached.

Use some penetrant and you should be set. Make sure to wear safety goggles too.
