I was at the gas station and my little orange button to pop the fuel tank door wasn't working on my 87 5.0 and i don't want to break it is it a easy fix just replacing the button? Or there more to it than that?
--Thanks--

the problem is more likely the popper motor thats in the trunk by the fuel door than the button.

mine has never worked, I just pop the trunk and pull the cord...

question: does it click at all? like its trying to open? If so start the car and try it.

I know sometimes mine wont work if the car is off...it will click and try to open but wont...then I start the car and it will. Almost like there isn't enough juice when the car is off.

Anyway just a thought.

The popper if you can't see it, is probable under the rear carpet in the far back under the spare tire lid. Can't miss it.

I tried it when the car was off and it didn't make any noise then i turned the key the on position and tried it still didn't, so i got pissed and pulled the key out and pressed the button hella times and it popped.
