car runs like a champ...no oil consumption or anything like that. However it ticks....at idle, and when i depress the clutch...also clutch is hard to engage.

what are the possible problems here?

We are going to need a more detailed explination, a tick could be a million things, mis adjusted valves, broken valve spring, exhaust leak, bearing, bad lifter, etc

Clutch hard to engage? In what way? pushing the pedal in? or letting it out?

Does the ticking sound go away when the clutch is engaged? If, so might be your Throwout bearing.
