i am installing a amp in my fox and i want to know if the ground wire and the power wire have to be the same gauge or can the ground be a little smaller?

It actually does matter what size your ground is. It NEEDS to be at LEAST the same size as the power wire. Bigger and SHORTER is the best. Short ground=happy electricity [Wink]

yes, electronics 101 - current flows from the ground to the positive, so because of that your ground is more important to have a good solid connection and be as short as possible.
