I have a Saleen with a bulit blower motor, vortech w/ intercooler. about 13lbs of boost.
anyway my problem is as follows. latley when im running my car hard, when i shift my car bogs out...its almost as if the motor cuts out for 1/2 second and then picks up the shift and goes. its real strange. only under race condition though. power builds just fine until each gear shift. 1st throuh 4th id say im losing about 2-3 seconds off a 1/4 mile time. im thinking and hoping its either a bad chip/tuning issue. this ever happen to anyone?

Maybe your fuel pump is cutting out or your having belt slip at high RPM's. Before I got my RR pulley you could feel the car lay over when the belt slipped. Look for belt dust around the head unit or down by the harmonic balancer.

yai remember at my last dyno somthing being mentioned about some possible belt slipage at high rpm's. id rather it be that or a tuning issue instead of a fuel pump. either way it makes my car run like dookie. i had a virtually stock 03 cobra pulling on me over the weekend cuz of it. first time for everything i guess.

my buddy had a huge problem with belt slippage on his 98 GT and under full boost it would slip and cut the oil lines to the blower several times.

You sure the Cobra was stock? [Wink] ...ya im thinking its something mechanical instead of a tuning issue. [Wink]

are we the only blown 4.6 guys on here?

Belt slippage on the 4.6's is a direct result of a bad tensioner. Sounds like a fuel problem. If you've got a 190lph pump or less in it, there's your problem.

Check your belt, tensioner, and fuel filter.. I have a filter get clogged some time back and it only effect the car under full throttle..

russ i think it can definatly be belt slip on the dyno you put some load on the car but no as much as when you you drive it on the street when it was slipping before it was at high rpms on the dyno with a blown head gasket i think you are making more hp with that problem solved now i think you should look into a 8 rib setup now i think it would be a good investment...on the other hand you could have some kind of fuel or spark cut out it would be very hard to be exact without driving it or throwing a scanner on it ....

sorry i cant solve your problem but good luck
