CODE 556 fuel pump relay primary circuit fault.

How do you fix this?

What is the problem on the car?...

I'd check to see if the fuel pump is getting the correct voltage, it could just be a bad fuel pump relay...

On occasion it seems to cut out a little at high rpms (5000 and higher). Usually on an incline.

I've changed the wires, plugs, fuel filter, cap/rotor and nothings helped.

If it's the fuel pump relay, how do I change it?

Thanks,

Tony

The fuel pump relay is just a small box with a conector that you can unplug to replace the new one with...I believe it's located under the drivers seat...

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?...

I did some research and found that the fuel pump relay is built into the CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module). It is attached to the metal plate that hold the radiator reservoir.

I replace it, reseated my SCT chip and the code is gone. But now I have a 311 code???

Plus it still sputters a little bit and comes and goes.

When I was at Dyno Labs, Ray the tuner said that he saw my fuel pressure fluctuate but then it stopped.

I'm stumped.

311-Thermactor air systeim inoperative(right)

You might have knocked a vacuum line off one of the diverter valve since you were just working on that side of the car...

I didn't know the fuel pump relay was in the "Constant Control Relay Module"...I remember my 86's fp relay was under the seat and I never did mess with my 94....I always thought the CCRM was for the electric fan...Oh well, no I know... [Big Grin]

Have you tested your fuel pressure regualtor?...Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and watch the fuel pressure while adding some vacuum...

All these codes following your tune and new chip would lead me to believe you may want to call Ray and ask him if the chip needs looking into

Yes I'm gonna contact him first thing Monday morning...He is aware of the high rpm misfire and said I could go back anytime to get it looked into.

It's just so frustrating since it doesn't always happen.

I fixed the problem with the Thermactor Air System and the 311 code is gone. Could this slight vacuum leak made my car sputter once out of every 4 or 5 WOT runs.

It seems to not be doing it anymore but it was so off and on that I'm not sure if it's fixed or not.

Check all those placsit little lines, after many heat cycles, they tend to crack, I found 2 of mine cracked, but not completely broken

Do you know if those were completely broken if they would make your car sputter at high rpms???
