I have a 302 shortblock here with 30k I'm getting ready to drop into my car. I also have a NX kit already in the car and I plan to use it a few times a year when I'm lucky enough to make it to the track. I'm wondering under those conditions if the stock internals should be fine or if I need to (a) get forged, or (b) sell the nitrous and just run all motor.

you shall be fine, just keep it under 150hp and up the fuel pressure slightly and let the fun times begin [Whoo Whooooo!]

congrats on gettin kevins old car, that thing is in great shape
on the nx kit, 150 shot isnt great on a daily driver, i would say just squeeze the 100 and have the motor last a very very long time, it would probably last for a long time with the 150 jets in, but a little detonation because of bad gas at 150 is not what u want on the stock internals

i totally agree with these guys, but i did know someone who ran a dual stage 200, on a completely bone stock motor, his daily driver. i haven't seen that car for a while though, he probably blew it up. HAHAHA [Big Grin] [patriot]

my motor has nearly 60k on it, I'm willing to run the 175's occasionally.

u have NOS right, remember that an NX 150 is like a NOS 175, u also have a tune by byron right, but then again u have a h/c/i setup to so ur pushing over 450+ at the wheels on nitrous

basically it comes down to how conservative the tune is, the more agressive the timing the farther the motor wll grenade out of the car [Razz]

I would worry about your intake more that your internals,,that intake can blow even with a very good tune as well as the heads. [Frown]

yep..as usual...here i go again:

bone stock bottom end with every bolt on for a damn five oh with a 175 rated dry shot...ran it at the track and on the street...have 50 nitrous passes at the track and ran it on the street like that too...wasnt a driver but i put 1500 to 2000 miles on it driving it after i started squeezing on it...no issues.

no, and ummm, no. my only tuning is via timing light [Big Grin] , the only thing NOS I have is the bottle itself. (looking for 475rwhp on a 150 shot btw [Razz] )

never mind, i stand corrected, for some reason i thought u had it tuned, did u just dyno it a apex, or not dyno it at all

what nitrous nozzle and jets are u using, if they arent nx hit me up and i can get u in business with the good shit [Big Grin]

I have 187,000 stock miles. I am running a 125 wet shot. I've had no problems at all. I changed my plugs to colder plugs, did my timing and i usually mix 100 octane when i squeeze. This is my daily driver BTW.

stock forged motors can take a lot
i ran a 200 shot on mine, prolly put around 15-20 n20 runs on it then took the motor out to change to 331, the motor was fine and i gave it to someone and it worked fine for a long time. i wouldnt trip of a 150 shot

Back when my car had stock heads on it, the first time around I had over 100k miles on my motor and would juice the shit out of it at will, (125 shot). Don't be affraid of the jiggle gas [Big Grin]

edit: that shortblock is still alive with over 140k on it now, its living in a 5.0 that my neighbor owns [Whoo Whooooo!]

i had a 85 capri that i ran atleast a 150 shot on sometimes 200 shot.i ran it from 89,000 miles to 140,000 miles then sold the car.at the end i had about 12psi of oil pressure at idle but it still ran hard.

now you just needs some centerline wheels to go along with that speed. [Wink]

I have 170,000 plus mile on my completely stock motor and i used a 150 shot on it at the track and never had a problem. just retard the timing and make sure you have fuel pressure at all times.
i only blew a head gasket due to hitting it when going like 10 miles an hour on 3rd gear leaving the track but that's because i forgot it was still on. my bad!!!

Just read my signature. That is a stock motor with 183,000 hard miles. Used to be a highway patrol car. I put about 10 bottles thru my motor set at about 150. Its all in the tune.
