any work you do yourself is free.

You can bump the timing up, it should currently be at 10btc. You can put it at around 12btc without any problems. Make sure you remove the spout connector.

If the have the stock air box assembly their will be a big plastic box inside the passenger side fender towards the front of the car. It looks like a liver. You can remove this and get more air to your motor.

I would just do a basic tune up as well with plugs gapped at .054, 9mm or bigger plug wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter. This isn't free but chances are your car needs it.

Your now at the stage of weight reduction. You should see the things that I do to save weight.

Hey you can run a short belt at the track and also ice your intake if you don't already do that.

port the lower intake and heads, reset the computer, duct tape the front end up for aerodynamics, run 5w-30 synthetic oil, and ditch the valve stem caps.
and borrow some slicks!

If you do pull the sway bar don't go taking turns with any good amount of speed. I have removed myne before and it was quite heavy. But I would only reccomend pulling it off at the track.
Shortbelts work really well. You could probably yank the belt completley and run all the way down the track without any problems. As long as you have an elec. fan.
What mustang do you have? Is it a coupe, lx, or gt? After I know that I will be able to give you some better weight saving tips.

i have a gt.what should i set my tire psi at?i have 17s on it.

remove the passenger fog light or marker light and fabracate your own ram air system
it's pretty efective and cheap
gain a tenth or two [Wink]

I would set them as high as possible in the front and for the rear you just need to find a good pressure for that days track conditions ect.

In My GT I removed the fog lights and the whole assembly bar and brakets. I also deleted my AC which shaved some weight. All my sound deadning material is stripped out and I never run winshield wipers(I think foxs look better without them), I also removed the nossle and the resvoir for the winshield washer fluid since I had no need for that. The whole trunk of my car is stripped down to the metal and obviousley i don't have my spare or anything else of that nature. My car is still heavy though because I have an AOD and I also have 17's.

my fod light are gone.resovior is gone.are the brackets woeth removing and i already have ram air.guess i used all the cheap mods.

if you want to, why dont you remove the actually bumper supports. those things are real heavy. the ones underneath the front and rear bumper covers.

Rob, I would avoid giving info like that man. I could see that getting twisted real easily into something that costs you a hell of a lot [Eek!]

Blue Oval:
Defnatley take out the whole entire fog light assembly with the brackets. The brackets are worth taking out they are pretty heavy, as well as the aluminum bar that gos across the front bumper that the brackets are attached to.

yeah i agree with 91sleeper/ remove the fog light assm.then with a sawzal or hacksaw
cut the fiberglass bumper on the passenger side so its even with the fog light hole opening
the cut the fender well behind the airbox to a 6" inch hole.also cut the airbox to match the 6"hole with the fender.
go to home depot and pick up a 6"ventalation tube
then run it to
fog light to air box-you got super ram air [worship]

oh yeah theres a small bracket you'll need to remove in the fender nothing that'll hurt your car.

well with the 6' vent and blades use for cutting
you've spent about $15 and about 2-3 hours
for a gain of 1-2 tenths .
i done it on my x-gt with great results [patriot]

I like this better, you can even take the pass. headlight out to have a more direct ram air.

 -

Only negative is that it adds some weight but then again it is plastic.

That ram air has got to be one of the most moronic designs i have ever seen lol. Do you know anything at all about how air flows i can tell you one thing when you are running a t junction instead of a u bend it isnt going to cause a ram effect lol. Air dosent flow in a t lol
