How do I achieve a deep and hollow sound from my exhaust, I love the way a ws6, ss, and cobra sound and I want to get that sound. I know cobra is a 4v and the ss and ws6 are beefy engines but there has to be a way! Which muffler will give it to me Hooker, Magnaflow, or Mac? And would it sound good with BBK Long Tube Headers 1 3/4, Off road Mid X Pipe, and 2 1/2 Tail Pipes?

although i dont like flows, but flows and an offroad h-pipe will get you that sound.

Yes, Yes it will. I remember when I first got my O/R H with my flows on my 1st 5.0. Sounds good, it's a HUGE difference with an O/R H! [burnout]

Posted by sevenliter95 (Member # 786) on :

Yeah, dump it and you will get the sound you are looking for [patriot]

Posted by SleeperVert50 (Member # 2742) on :

i have bbk high flow x pipe and american thunder exhasut, it has a hollow sound, and sounds kinda deep. and when i got a k&n intake the sound got a little deeper.

I know the sound your looking for, and let me tell you its hard to get on a 5.0...On the 4.6's its easy as hell, when you throw an o/r x and flows on one of those your fuckin set.. My best recomendation is to fool with different mufflers, i personally like the way x's sound than h's but to each his own...maybe magnaflows or dynomax

a guy I live with has FRPP shorties / pacesetter X pipe / dynomax dumps... sounds pretty violent and when youre sitting near ear level the bass is so strong your fillings will vibrate

i have mac LTs / prochamber / mac catback (LTs are 1 5/8"primaries, 2.5" prochamber & 2.5" catback piping with 3.5" tips)
i think my car may be exactly what youre looking for. very hollow sounding but not very tinny especially when on the gas. you're welcome to stop by the house and have a listen if youd like. i agree with everybody else as well that flows will probably give you the sound youre looking for without any header/intermediate pipe changing

I HAVE DYNOMAX RACE MAGNUMS WITH A O/R H PIPE AND IT IS REAL HOLLOW MORE THAN FLOWS.BECAUSE IT IS A STRAGHT THROUGH DESIGH MUFFLER.BUT IF YOU ARE RELLY LOOKING FOR THAT COBRA SOUND I WOULD GO WITH BORLA XR1.ITS NOT CHEAP BUT THE SOUND IS OFF THE HOOK.

Posted by SleeperVert50 (Member # 2742) on :

so what if i had

BBK Unequal
Mac Prochamber
Mac Catback

Will it achieve it, or should I go dynomax, hooker, or magnaflow. And should I get O/R Xpipe or mac prochamber?

bbk headers
bbk o/r h pipe
and some 2 chamber flows dumped that sounds crazy [worship] but if u want to keep ur tail pipes u think about going with 1 chamber flows they are damn loud maybe that would get what ur looking for

not looking for real loud. Just want a deep rumble. Whenever i see a WS6, Cobra, or SS. I get the chills! Anyone heard magnaflow and hooker?

Posted by phat50 (Member # 1998) on :

I HAVE HEARD MAC CATBACK BEFORE AND IT SOUNDS GOOD.IT WOULD GIVE YOU A SOUND KINDA LIKE A COBRA WITH A O/R H PIPE.I HAVE NEVER HEARD IT WITH MAC PROCHAMBER.

MY EXHAUST IS NOT CRAZY LOUD BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE IM GOING THRUGH A TUNNAL ALL THE TIME,REAL HOLLOW.

Here's the exhaust set up's I've heard and how they sound on an SN95 5.0

I've had JBA shorties, Mac o/r H, and 2 chamber flows and its NOT the hollow sound you're looking for...I'm tryin to get the same sound you are and thats just not it.

Bassani O/R X and a Mac cat-back, and shorties im pretty sure, on my friends 5.0 Cobra sounded sweet and a lot more of the sound you're looking for

Shorties (dont know the brand), Bassani Catted X, and borla cat-back on my friends 5.0 Cobra and it sounds soo nice, but he said he put like a G into his exhaust...so thats pricey.

If I was you I'd go with the Bassani O/R X and Mac cat-back...I loved the way it sounded on my friends cobra

[patriot] good luck on your search...but do NOT get flows

well I guess mt mind is made up, off road x, bbk unequals, and a mac cat back! HOLLO and Deep here I come

I have 3 chamber flows and it sounds deep and hollow. A little different from 2 chambers. You might want to try that. I think a chambered muffler give you the sound you're looking for over straight through design.

to get that hollow sound you do need to dump it... just leave your tailpipes on [Big Grin]

Posted by SleeperVert50 (Member # 2742) on :

how do I so that?

Posted by Jdub07 (Member # 2728) on :

I have magnaflows, bbk o-road h and fms shorties my 5.0 [Eek!] [dance] sounds like a honda accord

how about a cam? [Wink]

Actually the sound you are referring to from the WS6's and the SS's is achieved because those cars have a Y-pipe. I personally don't like that sound but like others said....very difficult to reproduce on a 5.0 (Thank God)!

Also the spintechs IMHO are the nastiest things I have ever heard! [Big Grin]

where do I get spintechs?
